Pros: Nice garden
Cons: Room and breakfast service
This hotel is in need of a major refurbishment. The room we stayed in had torn wallpaper and a broken mirror. Although the room was basically clean it smelled as if people had been smoking in it. There was an ashtray on the table which I didn't understand as it's illegal to smoke indoors in a public place! Breakfast was also a let down. I don't think I've been served a meal in this way since I was at school! A tray for you to go along and get your cereal and juice and then a waitress plated up your hot breakfast then tried to hand you over a hot plate which had just come out of the plate warmer! Not sure why table service was not offered. A disappointing experience for the price.

Great hotel, friendly staff

Pros: friendly & helpful staff, bar/restaurant is convenient
Cons: no elevator
This was our second stay at the Ardboyne, and the service and accomodations were as great as our first stay. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful - we had problems with our phone and the reception desk helped us to get an outside line. They also offered to call a nearby tourist destination to verify their hours. We stayed at the hotel because it was central to meeting with our relatives who live in the Navan area. The hotel is also close to several tourist destinations in and around County Meath - Slane Castle, Trim Castle, Hill of Tara, Monasterboice, Newgrange etc. The hotel bar is a great place for lunch or to meet friends for drinks. The included breakfast is also nice; it takes the worry out of finding somewhere to eat in the morning. There is plenty of parking, and the location is just off a main road, but far enough away that you don't get a lot of traffic noise. One of the negatives of our stay - there is no elevator; and our room was on the second floor. Taking our luggage up, and later down the stairs wasn't very convenient, but if that was the only fault with our stay, that's not too bad!
