Hotel nice but noisy

Posted May 18, 2015
Pros: the staff are very helpful and knowledgeable
Cons: windows should be made more soundproof.
the hotel is close enough and within walking distance to most amenities, shops, beach, restaurants, pubs. i was extremely disappointed with the noise level. the windows in the rooms are not sealed ( shutter windows ) and the noise from roadside ( delivery vehicles, cleaning vehicles, construction ) was very loud. we were woken by 5.30am every morning by this noise. i will definitely not be recommending this hotel to my friends and family or staying at this hotel again. the price was good but the noise level is just unacceptable when on vacation. the staff were very good and helpful, free wi-fi is excellent.

It was a good hotel close to good food/ shopping.

The amenities were minimal, parking problems (lacking) & expensive. The building was old & loud noises all night (walls thin?). The rooms were clean & staff was outstanding as they jump started my rental car & went above & beyond. The room service was polite & consistent. Thank you for my stay!

Pros: Breakfasts were very nice. Bed was comfortable. Room was cleaned well.
Enjoyed being at this hotel except we had a hard time finding it after dark. Honolulu doesn't have very good street signs, especially after dark. The signs were not only small but not in well lighted corners.

Great stay for the money

Posted Apr 10, 2015
Pros: Location and Price
Cons: Update the rooms a bit
Location: Close to many dining spots that are more affordable than those on Waikiki
Had wonderful staff go out of their way to help me out with tours. Rooms are a bit dated, but the beds were super comfortable and the WiFi was good. Hotel is very close to many fast food and ethnic dining restaurants. They are off the strip, so it is a more affordable location to eat. Pool is really small, but that was no problem as the beach was less than 10 minutes walk. Will definitely stay again...

Fairly good cheap hotel that can be a little loud

Posted Mar 31, 2015
Pros: - Not far from the beach - Hotel loans free beach towels - The staff was friendly - Decent price
Cons: - Better sound proofing
Location: - The Beach (5 min walk) - The zoo (15 min walk) - Diamond Head (40 min walk uphill) - Shopping if that's your thing
The hotel provided what we needed, which was a cheap, clean place to sleep in Waikiki. The facilities were a little worn, but everything was in working order. The main downside to this place was that the windows in the room aren't designed to close all the way and seal shut, which means that a lot of noise comes in from the street below (we were on the 4th floor, maybe it would have been better higher up). The worst part is when un-muffled motorcycles would drive by and the sound was absolutely deafening. We slept with the windows closed and the wall mount air conditioner on most nights (which was too bad, because the temperature outside was pleasantly cool at night). I don't regret staying here, but next time, I'll probably just skip Waikiki area altogether and stay somewhere else on the island. We ended up renting a room in someone's house in Kailua for the second half of the trip, which was cheaper, nicer, and more scenic.
