Great views, but very disappointing hotelPosted Jan 29, 2014
Pros: The views which are simply spectacular
Cons: Wifi, service in general, cleaning, noise reduction
Location: The location is great because of the views. Go to Laguna beach for some nice shopping
Reserved and prepaid room with partial view. Were put in room with no view. No internet / wifi in the room (1st floor). Called about it 4 times but it wasn’t fixed during the 48 hrs we stayed there Room not clean. Clipped nails of previous guest around the bed. Noise from guests in room above. In-room dining took more than an hour to deliver … Empty minibar (which is a problem with slow room service). Comment from guest services : « actually, we don’t do that anymore ». I wonder why. The hotel is not living up to its reputation, its five stars and its very high prices
Facilities are very run down.Posted Oct 26, 2013
When I checked in, the room had half eaten sandwich with half empty water bottle. It was very dirty room. I complained and they changed room right away. But new room was not that impressive at all. Paint was peeling off and strange odor was detected. If this was $90 motel, I wouldn't mind, but it was $700 per night five star hotel. Simply put it, It was unacceptable. Also, the water in the room was charged without me knowing it. I found that out after I checked out. They should have told me that it will cost me $5 per bottle..... I regret being there. If they want to use the name RITZ Carlton, they should shut down the hotel and remodel the hotel first.

great for romantic getawayPosted Oct 22, 2013 on Hotels.com
The service was amazing. We had a fireside coastline view room. If you are there during chillier months, it's definitely worth the extra cost. Very romantic and cozy.

Not long enough!Posted Oct 21, 2013
Pros: Really everything. We had the least expensive accommodations and they were lovely.
Cons: Can you adjust the weather 10 degrees!
Location: Magnificent views of the Pacific. We visited San Juan Capistrano and some of the residential neighborhoods in Laguna.
Arrived at 5pm, just in time for a sunset cocktail on the outdoor patio. Snacks provided and drinks were perfect. Had a delicious dinner in the restaurant. Bedroom was beautiful. Love those pillows! Toured the surrounding area the next day, but returned for sunset outside with drinks and hearty appetizers. Had fun meeting new people seated near us.

Elegant hotel on the beachPosted Sep 7, 2013
Location: Rent a surfing board and enjoy the waves
Friendly front desk stuff. Concierge didn't have a good knowledge about restaurants in the area. Room: good size, amazing ocean view, beautiful bathroom. We ended up eating all our meals at the hotel. Great restaurants. No need to go anywhere.

Top Gun HotelPosted Aug 9, 2013 on Hotels.com
The Ritz Carlton is well known for their outstanding customer service, however, when you combine this with an epic location like Salt Creek Beach, perfect 78 Degree weather, and an sophisticated, yet modern attention to design - this hotel is simply in a very rare class of hotels. Do yourself a favor, and do this at least once in your life.

SO overpricedPosted Aug 5, 2013 on Hotels.com
Absolutely not worth the price. Even Pelican Hill is more reasonable and has amazing rooms. The Ritz room was horrible! Small and dark and didn't even have a mini bar or a separate bath/shower. So disappointed. I'd never stay there again.

Not worth itPosted Aug 1, 2013 on Hotels.com
I have stayed at this property before a couple of years ago and it was great. However, this stay was not nearly as enjoyable. I had to get my own towels off of the cart because they never refreshed the ones in the room (despite calls to housekeeping). I also had to wait over 30 minutes one night to sign the bill for dinner. The customer service was lacking and I did not feel like I was at a 5 star hotel. The location near the beach is wonderful, but the customer service is lacking. They also charged me for the room even though I had paid through hotels.com and I'm waiting for that to be resolved. The manager did not seem to care about the issues that we experienced. Next time I will try the St. Regis!

Ritz Laguna NiguelPosted Jul 22, 2013 on Hotels.com
You get exactly what you expect. The hotel is very nice and on a beautiful location. View is amazing looking over the cliff to the Pacific. If you spend over $1000 a night for an ocean view room, I'm sure your view is wonderful. I spent $795 for a view of the pool. Upon arrival, they have wonderful service and are very attentive. If you do bring a car, I think you have to valet at the additional rate of $35/night. The lobby is gorgeous and smells of fresh cut roses. There are 2 restaurants in the lobby area that look very nice, but I'm sure very very pricey. We decided to go out for breakfast and dinner, but everytime we left you need to tip the valet guy so ultimately it cost me about $100 additional dollars to have my car parked there. The room is very nice, but honestly not that astoundingly better then your average Hilton or Westin Hotel. Just for giggles I looked at the room service. When its all said and done, a club sandwich would cost you close to $35/40. A glass of wine at the patio bar is the same price you'd pay for a bottle at the store. I guess the bottom line is that its a nice hotel in a beautiful location, but it is way overpriced in my opinion. I am fortunate enough to have the ability to occasionally stay in places like this....and while I usually enjoy the location...I often leave feeling a little nickel and dimed and a tad bit abused. Shouldn't have to feel that way when you are paying over $800 a night for a "pool view".
