The worst all-inclusive resort I've been to.

When I booked my vacation I specifically requested a quiet, non-smoking room with a single king bed and second room with 2 +1 beds for kids. Upon arriving I was placed into a smoking (ashtray on the table) room and second room with two tiny beds. The next door gests make loud nose during night, I obviously went to talk to reception and was told I'd be moved to a "very quiet" room the next day, as there were no rooms currently available (in a very obviously half-full resort). The resort's description mentioned free WiFi. Similarly, the posters in the elevator also said the same thing. I went to the business centre to get access, was asked to sign a slip of paper with my room number on it, and off I went. Upon check out reception informs me that WiFi was only free for "club premium" members (whatever that is - "premium" is written on nearly every sign and paper in the resort) and forced me to pay $45 USD for the week of access. They even showed me that slip of paper I signed, except now it had "$45 USD" written immediately above my signature. Sure enough, no one gave me a copy of the original. Apparently even through the resort is called "Barcelo Maya Beach PREMIUM," that's not the right kind of premium. Atrocious bait & switch at a ridiculous cost. Both rooms were covered in cracks and spots on walls and ceilings. Grout was either peeling or completely missing in the bathrooms, and the general cleanliness was mediocre at best. Pros: Bon rapport qualité/prix. Propreté des lieux.
Cons: La nourriture des restaurants à la carte devrait être plus distinctive vs buffet. Location de vélos.
Location: Situé environ à mi-chemin entre Playa del Carmen et Tulum.
Bon rapport qualité/prix. Cette destination représente une valeur sûre pour nous. C'était notre troisième séjour.

Average Hotel, Great Beach, Great for Kids

Just got back from a week stay at Barcelo Maya Beach with my fiancé. Overall the stay was average. The hotel is nice, modern and new, very large (meaning all 4 resorts in one "village type" setting) so bring comfortable shoes. At check in, they kept telling us our room would be ready in 30 minutes. After 3 times we decided to go eat. The food is OK. The buffets get old quick, as it's the same stuff every day. Beach and Caribe buffets are pretty much the same. The room service food was great, but an extra cost of course. Tokyo restaurant is a huge hit--make sure you get reservations there. Mexico Lindo was also good. The Italian place is a waste of time. The pool is also very nice with plenty of chairs, but required "saving" the highly desired sunny chairs by 9-10am. The beach is wonderful. I prefer a pool, but even I was delighted to be a beach bum for a day or two. My fiancé and I had a couples massage which was wonderful (I've had several massages-good and bad). The room is again-average. The AC was pitiful, as it was muggy, humid, and hot until the day we left. Nights were fine once it cooled off outside but still remained humid. Thankful for the efficient ceiling fan! We didn't ask to be moved because our room was very close to the pool and didn't want to risk being moved far away. All beer is on tap, which was an issue for my fiancé who preferred to pack a cooler for the beach (had to get up and walk to bar for a drink). No servers came to the beach. Great place for kids

Pros: Very new and clean everywhere ,Being renovated, friendly staff, good ambiance,
Cons: At the Beach pool, the music was always the same 2 or 3 cds.....
Location: We stayed at the hotel a lot to do with in the premises. There is some thing to do for everyone at the Barcelo
Stayed in club premium and it is worth the extra $ for the comfort of a jr suite, the view of pools and sea. Access to four resorts nô charge extra. At the Beach section where we stayed, everything was impeccable and new. Staff everywhere was friendly and very polite and attentive to your needs or questions. Very big resort if you walk the 5 hotels but it never seemed crowded either bar,pool, beach, restaurant. Would recommend and would return.

Absolutely stunning resort with lots to do...but not everything is included in the all inclusive experience. There is bowling, dolphins, a spa, and many water sports and adventures to try right on the resort...but they are pricey, especially when considering the exchange rate in Mexico.

Se fue el agua en el cuarto por tres horas, las camas son muy incomodas, no hacen el aseo en los cuartos solo tienden la cama (duró tres días la misma basura en el piso desde mi llegada) no se ve la tele bien, el ventilador de techo hace ruido, la comida del buffet muy mala, el servicio al cliente es deficiente, no esta permitido comer en la zona de albercas, los horarios de los bufetes son muy cortos y mas enfocado al cliente europeo y estadounidense.
