Lots of potential

Posted Aug 1, 2015
Pros: Pros: Plenty to do for everyone
Cons: Cons: can not make reservations for dinner unless you are privileged. You must stand in line in the heat for at least 30 minutes to see if you get in.
We stayed here the last week of July 2015 so keep in mind it was hot and humid. There were no public air conditioned areas except the gift shop. Everyone was wiping sweat off the entire time, including restaurants. Gift shop prices were pretty good, easy to buy gifts for home. We are not a big fan of "privilege" service packages. I believe everyone should be treated equally. The timeshare people were also very aggressive. I work hard 51 weeks a year and want to relax on my 1 week vacation. Not listen to a sales pitch, which we were told was important hotel information. We declined, and were contacted several times to try and change our mind. The hotel grounds and staff were great, the rooms had a few issues. It was so humid that nothing ever dried and my medication actually disintegrated because they were too damp. There was a dehumidifier in the room, but it didn't work correctly. The beach was packed with seaweed that smelled terrible and it traveled throughout the areas close to the beach. We are beach people so this was a huge issue for us, though the hotel did try and clean it up daily. Not the hotels fault! We did pay extra for the snorkel excursion and felt that was fun! You leave from the beach and go out to a national park reef. It was beautiful, and was pretty reasonable priced. Christian, at the Italian restaurant, was so nice!!! We like the hibachi, Italian, and outside dining (though that was too hot outside for my husband) Plenty to do for everyone!

Rotten smell of the seaweeds all over the hotel

Posted Aug 1, 2015
Pros: The staff in the dinning areas and our clean and nice room, the sitting areas in the Lobby
Cons: Clean the beach manually, but still
Location: The sea in this area (Peurto Morelos) is brownish not blue as Cancun or the other beaches in Riviera Maya If you like the beach, stay away!
Our beach vacation (July 16-July 23) became just a vacation not a beach vacation, because of the smelly rotten seaweeds on the beach. The hotel smells like rotten eggs, even while you are still in the outside! The hotel told us that they are prohibited from putting cleaning machinery because of the turtle season, okay.. but the hotel next door is having the beach cleaned manually so they do not have this terrible rotten smell! We asked for cancellation and having our money back so we can find another hotel, they said they do not do that! We asked for compensation for this smelly hotel situation they did not offer anything, not even a shuttle to the other H10 hotel. We flu from NJ to enjoy the beach but no beach for us this year what a waist!! The hotel is nice with very friendly staff but that is it. Go eat or go in the pool, or stay in your room.. you cannot even have a relaxing walk by the beach because it smells like sewer and looks awful!

As for my stay, once was enough

Posted Jul 31, 2015
Pros: The all inclusive part. Including the Beer, and most drinks. The pool area. Again, there were more things that I didn't like about this resort than I did
Cons: Cleaning the beach of the "Red Tide" would be a great start. Offer more "useful" items in the resort store at better prices. I can of "OFF" for $15???
Location: Hot. We were basically stationed at the resort. (bad idea). If the beach is your thing (like mine is), get a rental car, you'll be happy you did.
My writing space is limited here so I have to be brief. The all-inclusive meals were done with good taste. If you opted for the resorts dining experience, the menu's include some meals with prices and well as no-cost meals. I personally found that confusing and amusing in a so-called "all-inclusive" resort. The mosquitoes and bats...yes, I said BATS are atrocious. The mosquitoes are EXTREEMELY vicious and trust me you NEED to bring some hardcore bug repellent. The resort store offers little aid in helping with this matter. The beach has another issue what the hotel staff called "The Red Tide". If your reason for coming to this resort is the beach...LOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE!! Trust me, Look up "Red Tide" on google images and that's pretty much what my son and I had to put up with. It was smelly rotting seaweed washed up ashore, with flying bugs to go with it. The resorts along the coastline really wasn't doing much about it. Google calls it a phenomena, I call it something else. We also had two Bats that made their home underneath our balcony table, that we had a rough time convincing the hotel front desk that we needed someone to take care of the matter. Finally they took care of the bats when I showed them pictures of the bats in person. Also, the maid seemed to clean our room when she felt like it. Sometimes when my son and I would return to our room in the late afternoon and find our room still as we left it. Again, I would like to add more here but space for writing is limited

Ricardo, our waiter at breakfast, was the best! He is attentive, kind, and always had a smile on his face. He knew what we needed before we even had to ask for it. He is definitely a true asset to the hotel.

Nice hotel

Posted Jul 25, 2015
This was a nice hotel with good food and a great staff. I would not go back to this area for a vacation though because the beach was not good. To be more specific there was tons of seaweed at the shores and it was awful smelling. The seaweed was so bad that nobody even got into the water. The seaweed was at all resorts and not just ours.

Elavators did not work, had infant.

Posted Jul 19, 2015
i was traveling with an infant and was placed on the 4th floor in a section of the hotel that the elavators did not work. The nearest elavator (yes singular, only one working in the resort) was not close at all. I felt very bad for the employees having to take baggage or food to those rooms. It seems as if the elavators haven't worked for a while.

Beautiful hotel

Posted Jul 18, 2015
The employees were always very courteous and friendly and willing to help. The restaurants were amazing. Everyday we tried to eat at a different restaurant and each experience was amazing, from the hosts to the chefs. I would definitely recommend this hotel. We got a chance to see the Lion King performance in the theater and their performance was amazing.
