Beautiful Hotel....terrible beach

Posted Apr 28, 2015
Pros: Staff, accommodations
Cons: beach
The resort is very nice. Our accommodations were great. We had a large junior suite with oversized balcony. There were many restaurants to choose from and the food was pretty good for an all inclusive resort. They had shows at night which were pretty entertaining. The biggest disappointment for us was the beach. First of all you can not see the beach from the resort. In order to get there you must walk through the mangroves down a boardwalk. The beach itself on the day we arrived had about 2 feet of seaweed on the shore and the water was full of seaweed. You could not go in the water at all unless you walked further down the beach to an area that was a public local beach that you were not comfortable being on. The smell, along with the noise of the machines that were on the beach trying to remove the seaweed every day that we were there was very annoying. The beach was also very rocky. When we are on vacation one of the most important things to us is the beach! Therefore, although the resort was beautiful and the staff was very pleasant, we will not be returning. If you love the beach this is not the resort for you.

Great Hotel

Posted Apr 28, 2015
Pros: The amenities were fantastic as well as the service.
Cons: It would be better if they could arrange a shuttle by the hotel to pick people up from the airport or drop them off in town.
Location: Great location and about a 5 minute walk to the beach. Was about 10 minutes from fifth avenue (the main shopping area).
We had a 4 day stay at the Paradisus hotel and it was fantastic! We were there long enough that we could try most of the restaurants and not get sick of them. We were there on the weekdays so the pool areas were not that cramped. The service was great and the staff was pleasant. It was a great time all around. I would probably come back with my family in a few years down the line.

Stunning luxury resort!

If you are looking for a resort that has everything you are looking for in a vacation, look no for than the Paradisus. My buddy and I wanted to get down to Mexico for a few days to kick back and relax. I did a good amount of research before booking the Paradisus, and thee is no doubt I made the right decision. After a long day of traveling, we were greeted by there friendly staff and were able to walk over the the entertainment portion of the hotel to sit down and relax while our room was prepared. We met Jose there provided us with a big serving of guacamole and chips along with some cold beers and shots of tequila. He turned out to be our go-to guy for most of the trip. We unfortunately were booked on the family side of the hotel which was disappointing, but were told that there was no availability on the adults only side of the hotel. For two single guys, it wasn't ideal, but the walk wasn't too bad. We spent most our time at the adults only pool, and can't say enough about the food and drink service there. Our go to guys at the pool were Iran and his amigo Reuben. Those guys kept our drinks coming and we never had to wait for that next round! The pool atmosphere was great. They had DJ's playing on Thursday along with a show, including dancers and a guy on a Flyboard. Things quieted down a bit on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, but as long as the drinks flowed we were alright. Every meal was amazing. From the buffet, to the Market Rodizio Grill, to the food at the pool.......

Great Family Vacay

Posted Apr 26, 2015
We recently visited this resort & had a wonderful time. Caters to families & small children. The beach isn't the best but the hotel pool makes up for it. The best part no doubt was the hotel staff. Pool staff was great! They always went over & beyond to make us comfortable. Our concierge Alfredo was very polite & accommodating.

Great place to stay for families with kids

Posted Apr 26, 2015
We just came back from our 1 week vacation at Paradisus La Esmeralda, we decided to pay for the family concerge and Elio was outstanding with all the attention and great threats for our 3.6 year old son and 9 months baby. From daily cookies to kids activities to the pool it was great seeing the kids feel in their own little world of happiness. The only negative comments would be th condition of the beach, I heard it gets better after May. If you have kids I would say it worth every penny to go for the family concierge experience! You will not regret it.

Amazing hotel, best all inclusive food I've ever had, only downside was the beach. Get a swim up suite if you can. Great baby play area where you can drop them off for free.

Rude people, terrible service, expensive hotel

Posted Apr 23, 2015
Pros: Nothing, hotel totally ruined my girlfriend's birthday trip.
Cons: Everything, we hated every single moment we stayed at this place. We will never come back to any hotels owned by this hotel company.
Very rude people at the front desk, average food (cold, small portions, reservation hassle), rooms were never cleaned on time. They try to make money out of you at all times (i.e. timeshare presentation), never willing to help. I booked a room with a king size bed but when we checked-in the woman at the desk said they didn’t have that option anymore and we would be staying in separate beds for the rest of the trip. Instead of trying to find a solution she simply said that it wasn’t the hotel’s responsibility and wanted us to accept this fact and move on (if you don’t have this option available don’t market this). We asked to talk to the manager (Erick) and he said the same thing and promised to check this tomorrow. On the next day, we didn’t receive any phone calls or e-mails and we went to the front desk again. This time there was another woman there. We explained the situation and she said she would have her manager to check for any availabilities. After a while, she came back saying that the manager checked but there were no availabilities. We requested to talk to the manager but the woman didn’t want us to talk to her and lied to us by saying that she had a meeting. We started to argue with her and when we finally were able to talk to the manager (Daffny) she said that the woman at the desk checked but unfortunately there were no availabilities. After 1 hour of discussions, we finally got our king size bed.

Pros: I like my room, I like food , many choices.
Cons: Am vegetarian, my family is not, ones at lunch at the buffet table whole roasted piglet was displayed, I did not like that, and my kids were upset.
Location: My family snorkel and we took ride to local town.
Hotel is very clean, staff is kind and helpful, Pool is small :( and beach is not fully developed.
