Very Nice HotelPosted Jul 27, 2015
Pros: Pool, Food, Friendly Staff
Location: Well located. There is a lot of parks near the hotel, We recommend to enjoy Tulum Extreme and XCARET
We had a very nice experience at Paradisus La Esmeralda. The staff were all amazing and friendly, especially our advisor LEON (Melia Club). Highly recommend to anyone trying to find a great place to stay while in Riviera Maya.

Great Family Vacation 2 years in a rowPosted Jul 26, 2015
Pros: Excellent food. Fabulous entertainment. Fun activities for children including rock climbing wall and pool games.
Cons: Outside dinning experiences could be improved by having nets to keep the mosquitos at bay. Concierge should cover cookies in saran wrap.
Location: Shopping, kayaking, ferry to Cozumel.
The Good: We decided to come back to this resort because of the wonderful activities for children. In addition, the food was exceptional at the restaurants and good at the buffet. Night time entertainment included professional dancers, singers and impersonators. Service is impeccable at this resort. We traveled with a handicapped individual and everything was handicap accessible. Wheel chair ramps into the family concierge and throughout the resort made it possible for my family member to experience everything. I must recommend the swim up room. We had one last year and it was perfect. Being in the family concierge suite was far away from the activities and the restaurants, especially with a person with a disability. If we return I will definitely get a swim up room again. The Not So Good: The beach was covered in seaweed, which had nothing to do with the resort but we were unable to swim. Kayaking was available. Outside dining would have been pleasant but was interrupted by swatting pesky mosquitos. Perhaps nets could enclose these areas to keep the bugs away. The concierge should wrap children's night time snacks in saran wrap. We had to call for maintenance to come two times to exterminate the ants that were drawn to these snacks. Two of the restaurants had a fire and were replaced by a BBQ grill. The partial ocean view room which we paid for was covered by a view of forrest...buyer beware you will not see the ocean.

Nice hotel and poolPosted Jul 19, 2015
Pros: Nice staff
Cons: The beach needs a lot of improvement. It was full of seweed and it was impossible to go swimming .
We had a great time . The hotel was nice, the staff was very helpful and the food and good. My only problem with Thai resort was the beach. Lots of seweed therefore we couldn't swim.

nice hotel close to the beachPosted Jul 16, 2015
Pros: The food at this hotel was amazing
Cons: make more restaurants available without needing reservations.
pros - hotel staff was friendly and very helpful. The hotel grounds and beach are kept very clean. The food and mixed drinks are amazing!! The sunrise grill (outdoor) was definitely the best from the few restaurants we tried. cons- hotel staff are pushy when it comes to making dinner reservations and unless you are eating at the naos buffet you will need a reservation to avoid a long wait. The bed sheet was dirty and even though the room was "cleaned" everyday, fresh towels were not provided everyday until we called room service for them.

Very nice hotel, pools, restaurants and beachPosted Jul 15, 2015
Pros: The restaurants you need to book were very, very good. Pools were nice and clean
Cons: More casual dining. Allow kids in all restaurants until say 7.30 instead of completely excluding. (Allowed until 8pm in 1 of the adult restaurants)
Location: Very close to the beach, lots of water sports, swimming with Dolphins etc
Very good, had a great time. Only disappointment was that not all restaurants were open (Market grill was closed for 2 months) meaning limited casual dining choices which is a pain when you have a baby that naps at 12.30 and the buffet doesn't open until 1pm. Only left the pool bar which is great but gets old after a few days. Other than that we really enjoyed it and would recommend.

stay somewhere elsePosted Jul 6, 2015
Ants all over my room. Was supposed to get a double bed but got single & rollaway bed. Other people in our group had messed up rooms and got upgraded to swim up rooms and resort credit. I think if you can communicate more fluently you get better service which is nonsense when everyone paid the same rates.

Great Family and Adult accommodations ..Posted Jul 2, 2015
I love this place...my family and I stayed there June 18-25.....my kids loved the room service and the room with the pool access.....I will definitely recommend this place...... Just two things...I didn't like the beach and the time share seminar.....not interested in that option..but the incentive was very nice....

End of June 2015Posted Jun 28, 2015
We stood in La Esmiralda, family style. May be adult only side in La Perla is better. What was good- Modern style, nice appearance, mostly clean (public bathrooms not always clean) large choice of restaurants, good choice of liquor. Defiantly may be choice for my next trip in Playa Del Carmen, if I will not find better place. What was bad - first couple days amount of Mosquitos was incredible. It took hotel 2-3 days to treat area. Beach is good, not the best. Beach umbrellas had to be replaced couple years ago, ugly, ripped and are not in good working condition. If you need to use bathroom while you on the beach you have to walk 5 min. Horribly far. The only bridge from hotel side to the beach was occupied by the wedding ceremonies after 4pm 5 days out of seven of my stay. To return back to the hotel we had walk additional 10-15 min around area. Why hotel has so much respect to the weddings and total disrespect to other guest of the hotel? Same thing with private parties. Hotel management doing them everywhere they want, sometimes blocking walkways of other guests. Hotel staff has no idea what is good service means. Waiters in buffets are slow and ignorant, it look that they spent all their time for personal conversations. It use to take a good minute before beach bartenders notice single person in front of them. I heard a lot of complains regarding leaking plumbing, but my room was perfect. Spa is nice, but small and extrely overpriced.
