Great location, close to restaurants and Gaslamp.

Pros: Location.
Cons: Double glazed windows to keep out the street noise would have been nice. A fridge that you can keep your own things in.
Location: Location is good. Gaslamp area very close. You can walk to Seaport Village. Easy to take the bus to the Zoo, SeaWorld, Old Town .
Good location, bus stop right outside the door. Easy to get to the Zoo and Sea World on public transportation. You can also take the bus to LaJolla easily . Staff very helpful for getting around town.

Pros: It was nicely decorated and the beds were very comfortable. I am sure I could have slept well had it not been for the noise.
Cons: Sound proofing the rooms and a hostess in the restaurant that seemed to value their guests
Location: Location was great.
We were very disappointed. You could hear everything going on in the hallways (doors slamming, people talking, vacuuming, etc.) With only three tables occupied in the dining room and after a ten minute wait, we finally left the hotel to find an outside restaurant that would appreciate our business. I will not return nor recommend this hotel to anyone.

Luxurious getaway for just the two of us

My husband and I had a wonderful experience at this hotel. All of the staff were outstanding! The rooms are beautifully decorated and very clean. The hotel restaurant is also excellent, from the food to the service. In fact, on our last day at breakfast my husband accidentally dropped a $100 bill on the seat. The staff immediately called us in our room. You just don't find service like this anymore!!! Wow!

The hotel was clean and over all fine. However the you could really tell that the hotel liked to nickel and dime the guests. The ethernet in the rooms wasn't complimentary and you could only connect to the lobby wifi for 3 hours a day. They also didn't have things that every other hotel i've stayed at will give out for free like bandaids, or quart sized plastic bags for bringing liquids though TSA. Howeve the staff was all great, very helpful. One piece of advice pay the extra $10 for a city view room the courtyard view rooms are DARK. Our room never got direct sunlight and it didn't ever get bright in the room even during the day will all the lights on.

Great Hotel in a really good downtown location.

Pros: Love the beds.
Cons: I didn't like the locks on the bathrooms. They were unique but hard to work.
Location: In the middle of downtown San Diego . Everything is close by. Gaslamp area. Horton plaza. Theaters. Great place to stay.
Stayed at the US Grant after seeing John Edwards, Medium in one of their large meeting rooms. It was great. The hotel staff were all there to help. The hotel was great.

Understated Elegance

Pros: Comfortable, efficient, and clean. Only stayed 2 nights for a conference and left.
Cons: Had some noisy neighbors with kids one night running down the long hallways. Happened before bedtime so it wasn't much of an issue. Please FREE wifi!
Location: Gaslight neighborhood nearby
Booked this hotel as result of Expedia recommendation since the hotels rooms reserved at a conference filled up and had to make a choice last minute. Pleasant staff, clean modern room in a somewhat dated old building but with a lot of charm and elegance.

Very Regal feeling

Hotel is very nice in side and out, although check in time was at three room was not ready until almost four. I think Expedia should let you know that parking is $42 a night. The room was nicely appointed, high ceilings, nicely furnished. But if you are light sleep be prepared to hear the city noises. Also the bathroom is large, but the water pressure in the shower was minimal.

Pros: The service from the staff and the location.
Cons: The carpet was always vacuumed, but there were some stains that could be removed. It probably wouldn't be noticed if the carpet was a darker color.
Location: It is in downtown (very safe); the location is close enough (via transportation) to Old Town (lots of shops and restaurants), the zoo, and Sea World.
As soon as we arrived, the staff was there to help us; their service throughout our stay was excellent. The hotel is beautiful and central enough to have easy access to restaurants (near by) and the main attractions (via transportation). If public transportation is a preferred choice, the trolley and buses are a few feet away from the hotel. The room was very clean; cleanness is one of the number one reasons why we choose high end hotels.

Add days to a conference

Pros: All service people very friendly and helpful. Lobby fabulous. Room service on time and good.
Cons: Printer in business station not working. Keys stopped working a few times. Both issues handled well by staff. Dont charge for wifi
Location: Restaurants, bars, nightlife fabulous. Walking distance to shopping and beach.
Hotel is very old and charming. Staff is SO FRIENDLY and HELPFUL. Room service fast and good. Room very clean, housekeeping awesome....loved coming home in middle of the day and finding my room made up. So often when staying multiple days, I have returned from my activities and found my bed not made. And if I am paying premium rates, I want my bed made for me! A small thing, but significant in how I feel. Room was small but very elegant. Bed and pillows super comfortable. Bellmen all fabulous and helpful in everything from suggestions for activities, hailing cabs, or in where to park to avoid tickets! Cheerful and smiling....another small but significant thing. Even remembered our names!

... the windows of our room (11th floor) were very, very dirty. And while the expedia listing promised free wi-fi, it turned out that the hotel charged another $24.
