Great location

I loved my stay. It was in close proximity to public transportation which allowed me to get all around without much trouble. The staff was great and beyond helpful. I cant say enough good about the staff. I ended up havibg a small crises and they stuck with me every step of the way and i would not have been able to resolve the issue without them.

Old Hotel for the Modern Man.

Posted Apr 14, 2014
Location: A couple of 20% off coupons are offered for the diner at the corner. Food is okay.
My observations, in no particular order: The building is quite old, but has been renovated to have most of the modern conveniences. Beds and furniture are old, but comfortable. Rooms are small, but decent if you don't plan to spend too much time in them. Wi-fi coverage is excellent and internet speed is good. Public computers available in the lobby/hang out area. No breakfast offered. Staff is friendly. Hotel bar exists, I did not check it out. Rooms are heated via old-school radiators. They kind of make a bubbling noise for a while after they are turned on. This might bother light sleepers. Walls are thin. I had no problems but a party in the next room could be an issue for light sleepers. Standard hotel room features are present: coffee pot (bring your own coffee), TV, Desk/chair, iron and ironing board, ceiling fan, deadbolt on the door, and, of course, a bible in the night stand. 7/10, would stay here again.

a one night stay , wanted to pay a bit more than the cheapest, to hope to get a clean room , ended up with a room that smells bad, and bit noisy and not comfortable.

Friendly staff during check in/check out. Bed was nice and comfortable. Bathroom is incredibly small, like viewers have said, but the shower was fantastic! Lovely hotel :)

Nice hotel next to Union Square

Posted Apr 8, 2014
Pros: Location. Price. Location.
My boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights. It's a small hotel near Union Square. Extremely convenient location and great price amidst the large (and expensive) hotels surrounding Union Square. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms were small, but it was fine for the 2 of us and we didn't plan to spend much time there anyways. There's free coffee in the morning and a business center. The rooms also have free Wi-Fi. Rooms were clean and the maintenance staff were extremely friendly as well.

Quaint and Friendly

Posted Apr 7, 2014
Location: The neighborhood was safe enough to walk around in the evening to get food and go shopping nearby.
The Cartwright is a quaint hotel located at Union Square. Check-in was a breeze and the staff were very courteous and professional. The room was cozy with a view of Sutter. Only downside wasn't a real issue, the bathroom was so small that the door opened outward, blocking the hotel room door from opening. It was funny and cute to me. I'd stay here again.

Does the job

Posted Apr 6, 2014
It did not look like the pictures shown. The room I had was very condescend and small. There wasn't much space to move around but it does the job. I had a place to sleep! It was very close to union square so that was also a bonus.

Staff is horrible.

The rooms are really really small. Especially the bathroom. Cleanliness can be better. Room was very dusty. Night time staff is super rude.
