I was amazed by the quality of this Hotel : - Friendly and professional reception - Good location. Thanks and good luck! Don't expect luxury, but all the staff seemed very helpful.

This location-Russian Hill is superb.

Posted Jul 23, 2014
Pros: Location ( health food market, gourmet burgers, Leopolds, 2 coffee shops - even a laundromat-all within 3 blocks)
Cons: I heard someone say the elevator wasn't working properly.
Location: Above
The hotel all-in-all is basic and very well kept. The valuable amenities are all there: friendly helpful polite staff, free parking, microwave, refrigerator, ice, and free internet, and good food quite nearby.

semi false advertising

Posted Jul 20, 2014
i am on a 3 week road trip and i only booked hotels with free wifi, free parking and free breakfast. this hotel's wifi was shotty on my husband's iphone, and my ipad, and my samsung phone NEVER connected. the "free continental breakfast" was served on a tiny bar in the tiny check in area. no dining room, no tables, no eggs. coffee, muffins and such. not quite a "breakfast". street noise woke me up through my ear plugs during the night. it is a decent price, and good location. but i wouldn;t stay there again.

Castle inn aren't always the castle inn

Posted Jul 20, 2014
Was booked in castle inn but after arriving I had to go across the road to broadway inn . Parking was better here at least and a good breakfast is to be had with a connecting dinner . Staff don't seem too interested and the rooms though clean the building is needs a good overhaul . Location is good though close to the waterfront . Overpriced but I guess you're paying for location .

Centrally located

Pros: Everything.
Cons: Nada
Location: Close to the water, a lot of great rstaurants, and I got a great hair cut in the area.
Marshall and Arlene were great hosts. When I come back to visit, this would be a good place to stay.

San Francisco

Posted Jul 13, 2014
Pros: It had parking and was close to fisherman's wharf with good neighborhood restuarants.
Cons: Better pillows
Location: Fisherman's wharf is about .9 miles away, but it is an easy walk. There are several restaurants located close by to get breakfast or dinner.
Nice easy walk to the wharf without having to pay the crazy prices to be at the wharf.

Convenient non-Union Square

Posted Jun 21, 2014
Pros: Location, free parking
Cons: Breakfast
Very convenient hotel with free parking in a good location outside the usual Union Square options. Very simple but clean and got the job done.

Fair hotel, convenient to Wharf

Posted Jun 5, 2014
Hotel is clean and comfortable. Good location to Wharf. Breakfast only consisted of packaged honey buns & oatmeal. That was a big let down. Fair price for San Francisco.

A decent stay in a decent location

Posted Jun 2, 2014
This hotel was about what you would expect. It was reasonably clean and well maintained, but the d├ęcor and furnishings were dated. The help at the front desk was very informative and knew the area well enough to give recommendations as to places to eat, sightsee, etc. The Castle Inn is centrally located to most of the touristy areas of San Francisco. A ten minute walk put you on the Embarcadero or in China Town. Getting back to the hotel was a breeze since there are many public transportation option that would make stop within one block of the hotel. If you choose to use public transport (MUNI System) during your stay in SF download an app to your smart phone that will show all the lines running with their stops and current location of the bus/trolley/subway car.
