Nice hotel within walking distance of most sitesPosted Oct 23, 2013
Pros: Each room indiviually painted/decorated. Nice having a refrigerator in room. Flat screen TV but not with many channels. Comfortable bed. LOCATION!
Cons: Hall ways got a little loud, especially staff talking while setting up the breakfast room at 6:30 in the morning.
Location: Just steps away from enterance into China Town. Walked to Coit Tower & Fishermans Wharf. Starbucks on the corner. Near shopping in Union Square.
We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in October. Choose this hotel for the location near Union Square where the Nike Women's Marathon started. The deluxe queen had its own bathroom which was important. Had an old fashion tub which was uneven so it rocked when you stood in it. The room had the essentials which is all we needed. Could only comfortably fit two in the room. Big comfortable bed, desk, TV, refrigerator and closet. GREAT location! Within walking distance of most attractions so we saved money by not using cabs/buses. Example - we could walk to Union Square to shop (or hop on a street car or trolley), Starbucks on the corner, China Town - walk through China Town and you're in Little Italy, then keep walking and you'll be at Fisherman's Wharf. Room was very clean.

First timers to San Francisco!Posted Oct 22, 2013
Pros: Location, cost, staff, amazing room and lots of artwork to look at in the halls. Clean hotel.
Cons: Everything about our stay was great.
Location: Great location by China Town. Walking distance to Union square, SFO information centre and museum. Fantastic small Italian eatery Uncle Vito's nearby.
We stayed here from October 1st to October 11th 2013. Having read previous reviews of the hotel we were aware about the possibility of noise in the early morning and the free light breakfast. Our room was fantastic..went for an ensuite on the 4th floor. The room was big enough for us, with a small fridge, TV,ice bucket and closet space big enough for the both of us. Refreshing to find a powerful hairdryer in the bathroom! There is a small self service breakfast room where you can help yourself to toast, bagels, juice, tea and coffee and you are welcome to take your breakfast to your room. Fresh fruit is also provided, so you can help yourself to apples and oranges. There is a ice dispenser on the 2nd floor which was useful. Staff were friendly and helpful and happy to assist. Room was always clean with booklets about San Francisco were provided in the bedside cabinet drawer. Three is a small lift which needs to be called when needed. We only realised this after dragging our bags up to the second floor. We had an evening flight and the staff were happy for luggage to be left in the kitchen area. We will definitely stay here again and are recommending it to our friends.

hotel with stylePosted Oct 10, 2013
Pros: Location. Design. Comfort.
Cons: Wifi signal was always low on the 5th floor. Non existent in the afternoon.
Location: It's right next to the entrance to Chinatown and really close to muni transport to get you all over the city.
Oh it's in the Tenderloin. I've never had any trouble in this neighbourhood and it's very central and handy location. I stayed in a suite which was lovely and quite the bargain. Great design. The wifi was a little hit and miss, but that would be my only complaint. Polite and helpful staff. Unobtrusive housekeeping. It's a great find and I will definitely be staying again.

Hotel was close to public transportation.Posted Oct 6, 2013
Pros: It was clean.
Cons: Add Air Conditioning, dressers, table lamps, ceiling fans......
Location: On the western edge of the Financial District abutting commercial buildings. Chinatown is one block away. All other activities require traveling.
Our suite consisted of a bedroom and a living room on the fourth floor at the rear of the hotel. Neither room contained a dresser so we had to basically live out of our suitcases. There was a closet in the living room and a table and chair in each room. The only table lamp did not work and never got replaced. There was no air conditioning so windows had to be opened for fresh, cool air. Between 2:00am and 5:00am each morning, we were awoken by dumpster divers or trash haulers trucks that emptied the dumpsters. The continental breakfast was sparse, with very little choices. There were no tables provided, only wooden stools. I suspect you were supposed to eat off of your lap. Fortunately, there were eateries within walking distance.

Great location, friendly staff.Posted Oct 3, 2013
This hotel was super conveniently located .Very easy to get to from the BART and close to Chinatown. The staff was friendly and helpful. My room was nicely decorated and the clawfoot tub was a nice addition. The walls were very thin but I suspect this was more of an issue for my neighbors than myself. The window looked into a light well but o didn't come to town to gaze out of my room anyway.

Other than the outlet beaker tripping almost daily, and the alley garbage pickup every night!!! This is a very quaint European style hotel. Bring ear plugs!!!

Great hotel and great locationPosted Aug 20, 2013 on Hotels.com
I stayed at the hotel with my 10 year old son. We stayed in the room that was the Graffiti room. It was the perfect room for a young boy. The room was small-just a bed, bath, sink, and closet but we weren't in the room much. The location was good-close to Chinatown and walking distance to Market. Mission, SOMA. There were good restaurant options nearby. The continental breakfast wasn't much to speak of so we just went to La Boulange around the corner for breakfast. If you want large rooms, this isn't the place for you but we found it to be a nice, funky boutique hotel.

Worth a nights stay.Posted Aug 10, 2013 on Hotels.com
We were in San Francisco for one night and we stayed at Hotel Des Arts. This is an old building with an interesting and unique artistic twist. Those who have lived in old downtown apartments will feel at home but this is not the Holiday Inn. Not for people with kids. Room condition was good and clean. Staff was helpful and friendly. Rooms are minimalist but if that's what you're looking for this is an affordable place in a great location. Close to Chinatown, cable cars and trolleys.
