Great for the price.

Pros: Price, location, other friendly guests and staff.
Cons: Things can always be improved but price will no doubt go up - so great for the price.
Location: Next to park, supermarket up the street, bars and clubs about 15 minutes away - some were close by and good value. There is a pub around the corner.
Hostel is located very close to the city and train station. There is a supermarket about 5 minutes away or you can eat at their cafe. The reception gives out discount cafe vouchers. The hostel is in an old building but it is maintained and the cleanliness is good given the number of other guests staying. It is a big hostel but I stayed on the top floor which I think is quieter than two lower floors. The dorm (8 bed) was surprisingly tidy and roomy. The linen and doona was clean and I say housekeeping hoovering several times during the day. Given the price, location and other alternatives in Sydney - it was great value.

Cheap stay but don't expect much

Posted Jul 31, 2014
Pros: Location and staffs most probably.
Cons: Change the beds and pillows. Full renovation if possible.
Location: Nightlife around King Cross.
An old and muddy building. Staff was really great and helpful. Very simple room and the bed was worst i ever sleep on. The pillows were really thin. But please really don't expect much for a cheap rate.

not classy

It has potential to be a beautiful hostel but right now its more of a renovasion object. Staff is friendly and everything works even though it might not look like it. But if you dont care about the looks it is a nice hostel

very bad customer service quality

I stayed there during four nights. Two of them, when I came back in my room, there was someone else in my bed because of overbooking...really annoying !! The cleanliness was quite bad. But the location is really good; quiet neighbourhood and close to the CBD.

Good Location, thats it

It's the kind of hostel that feels like you've accidentally walked into someone's home. Except this person has taken no pride in their home and is kind of annoyed that you've turned up. Staff on arrival were unhelpful and moody and most staff were more intent on explain how many hours they'd been working rather than helping. There was a fight in the kitchen on one night which resulted in the police being called. The location, however, was fantastic and the price was right for being such a comfortable walk to circular harbour. (i also saw a different room which was much nicer than mine, perhaps i was unlucky). This place is probably more appropriate for people intending to stay in Sydney long term.

Terrible, not clean, lost my money. Don't go there

Posted Apr 21, 2014
In addition, I had to leave one day before my check out time and they did not give my money back and charged me 20 AUD more cause I was late for check out time! So I lost 20 AUD+ 1 day.

Poorly maintained, gross, lack of amenities

Things I did not like: 1. No light in room. Checked in during the day time and unpacked. Came back at night and discovered the only light in the room was broken. The staff couldn't find a light bulb to fix it so I had to switch rooms. 2. Lights were also not working for several days in the communal toilet area. My girlfriend and I had to do our business in the dark. 3. Dishes are handed out at check in but they didn't have enough. My girlfriend and I had to share a cup and fork and knife for our entire 3 day stay. 4. At check in a low quality pillow and thin linen sheet where handed out to each guest. For those who get cold at night blankets can be gotten at reception. However when I asked they were out of blankets. 5. There was no hand soap in any of the communal restrooms. 6. Unless you carried your own lighter you can't use the stoves. I asked reception if there was supposed to be lighters available to light the stoves and they said no. 7. 3 of the toilets I used didn't flush. 8. In general staff were unfriendly and unhelpful. While checking in one of the staff was cursing loudly at the computer screen.
