Waterfront Park is a scenic open space lining the eastern shore of North San Diego Bay. The remarkable multi-jet fountain is among the highlights of the park. Visit Waterfront Park on a hot and sunny day to let your kids frolic in the cool fountain jets.
The little ones will also love the extensive blue sections containing play areas with webs of ropes, metal slides and climbing walls. Enjoy snacks and drinks with your friends in the designated picnic sections.
Splash around under one of the many jets that make up the large fountain pool. The fountain has a wide basin with a non-slip surface and a few bridges hovering over it. Watch your kids enjoying the water from the adjacent grassy area, where you can lay down a towel and sunbathe.
Admire the impressive design of the San Diego County Clerk’s Office, a huge mansion at the center of the park, where people often get married. A tower protrudes from the center of the building.
Relax with a book on a bench and watch people go by in these serene grounds. Work out on the jungle gyms to stay fit. The many restaurants in the surrounding Little Italy district provide a great opportunity to relax and have a nice meal.
The park opens daily from early morning until late evening. Bring swim suits, towels and sunscreen for your afternoon. The park has bathroom facilities.
Waterfront Park is in the Porto Siena and Little Italy neighborhoods, in the northwestern corner of downtown San Diego. Take a bus to one of the many stops beside the park or ride the train to the Santa Fe station. Arrive by tram at the County Center/Little Italy stop, just outside the park.
Travel around the neighborhood to see other treasures such as the Maritime Museum of San Diego, the USS Midway Museum and the Unconditional Surrender Sculpture.
