Loews Coronado Bay Resort & Spa

Loved the resort.

Coronado Island is beautiful, would love to go back soon! The resort is a little out of the way, but it was not a big deal. It was very close to all the fun spots in San Diego. We had a very good time, and the Hotel was very accomidating to all our needs.

This is one of the most picture perfect places to stay, plush...luxurious..tropical. the views from every corner is great, from inside and out. and its so quiet there on the bay,The hotel staff was very polite ,and helpful in every way,and the food is awesome. All the property is in very good condition and the gardens and marina are beautiful . they have a gated entrance, underground parking for a fee. I didn’t use the spa, not enough time, but the pool area is awesome, they even allow pets.the ocean is awesome too. lots to do even for kids.This is not a cheap place to stay, but you can do it on a budget. its about a 15 minute drive to downtown. Cant wait to go back , its always sunny and 70...

"Very nice . . .BUT "

The facility was very nice in a beautiful location. A couple of frustrations need to be voiced, however. After getting our luggage to the room, keys didn’t work and it took a good walk to get back to the front desk. Then the parking key to get out of the gated entrance/exit didn’t work. A replacement gave the same problem the next day. The room was comfortable, but could have used one more chair (we had a king room). Oh, and did I mention the $22/day parking fee?

A small piece of paradise on the Mainland

The hotel was very welcoming and comfortable. The were many activities available (cycling/sailing/gym). There was also the option of sitting on the Silver Strand beach or sitting by the pool or being pampered at the spa. I did not bring my family or pets on this trip but I do hope to return for a family vacation. It is great to find a place that has a positive customer service attitude and the ability to cater to different customer needs.

Rent a car so you can drive to see many of San Diego’s attractions. The hotel where I stayed was family friendly and could meet the needs of babies/smaller children/tweens and teens. The zoo, Sea World and the Wild Animal Park are within driving distance.

Luxury in Paradise

This hotel is beautiful. The staff is professional and friendly. The grounds resemble a tropical paradise, with pools, tennis courts, bicycling, etc. There is a marina with many boats (yachts) adjacent to the hotel. I did not use the spa services, but many people were. This hotel is in a very quiet, secluded location, which makes it perfect if you are looking for a relaxing vacation. It is a bit out of town, but the hotel provides a shuttle service to town several times a day.

Take the hotel shuttle to Coronado, walk through the neighborhoods to the ferry (about a 30 minute walk), and take the ferry over to San Diego for the day!

Terrific Vacation Destination

Great Resort. Very kid friendly. Restraunts are a little expensive but it’s what you would expect. Rooms are very nice and comfortable. Hotel staff was excellent. I traveled with a 4 and 6 year old. They loved the pools. I was surprised to see that the hotel was pet friendly also. You have to travel a bit if you want to eat somewhere other than the resort but just a few miles. We had a wonderful trip and will probebly visit them again next year.

Nice resort, out of the way

This is a very nice resort. I didn’t realize how far we were out of Coronado, it wasn’t a bad drive, but be prepared to drive if you want to see anything else on Coronado. Nice rooms, nice pool, great restaurant and lounge. Our room was on the first floor right by the pool and hot tub. Too noisy at night. People sat in the hot tub talking "loudly" for hours, but usually left by 11:00. Parking is expensive and you have to drive around a bit to find a spot. I don’t know if I’d stay again, but would go back for the restaurant. Maybe to try the spa also. We didn’t have a chance to do that.

Go in the Fall, after mid-September. The weather is beautiful and less crowds.

Not Great

This is not a good example of a four star resort. Our room had cracker crumbs in the bed and on the floor. Our view of San Diego Bay was blocked by the unmaintained landscaping.

extras are expensive

while the hotel itself is wonderful. Room service was very expensive,they add 18% plus a $4.00 charge just to bring your food,we usually give good tips, after we saw the extra charges we did not use room service again. $4.50 for a regular size snickers bar is abit much,food items and snacks are 4 times what you would pay in a store. No refrigerator to use or micro wave.overall a very nice resort.would recommend,but bring your own snacks and dont use room service.Paid extra for parking even though we had gotten a "package deal",that would have been nice to know up front.

Stinky Room

The room was what I expected. What was unexpected was the odor coming from the bathroom. Yuck. They "tried" to fix it, with no luck. I doubt all the rooms had this problem, but ours did.

Nice hotel

This is a nice hotel a little far away from everything. They do have shuttle service 3 or 4 times a day. Rooms are big and great big bathrooms. One thing we didn’t like was that one night they had a function so the restaurant was closed! The only way to get something to eat was the hotel bar. Snacks only. So if you don’t have a car to drive back to Coronado town you are stuck there because cabs are expensive. Hotel staff very friendly.

This hotel is affiliated with a cab service. One of the drivers is also a sailer and could take people out on a trip.

Very nice, but restaurants not open...

We enjoyed our stay. The room was lovely and tastefully and recently remodeled. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We left some things in a drawer in our room and Security was most responsive and sent them right away. There was only one restaurant open, which was okay for breakfast and the pool side restaurant was good, but we had to drive several miles to find a good place for dinner. However, we would return again.

Great Hotel, kid friendly

We visited the Loews on a (extended) family trip. They were friendly with the kids, giving us rides to/from the beach with just a phone call. (They also provided, toys, chairs & towels). We ordered a crib, bedding was customized for a boy. It was nice to get a full sized crib! All kids (18 mos, 6, 8) got a toy at check in. They were kind enough to arrange our 5 rooms all in the same building so we could be near one another. Rooms were clean & comfortable. Bathrooms were large and clean. The pool area was nicely arranged. Parking was easy, spots located under each building if you chose to self park as we did. all in all a great hotel, very comfortable & I would definitely stay here again.

go spend a few minutes at the beach - take your cell phone and they’ll come and pick you up when you call!

Would definitely go back

Room was very spacious as was tub and shower area. Hotel is out a ways from the town so it was not within walking distance for meals. We did enjoy the food at the Cafe but felt it was a bit pricey, especially for breakfast. We did not have any children with us but if you were feeding a family it would not be cheap. Overall, it is comfortable hotel with a wonderful pool area - very family oriented.

wish we could have stayed longer. For the amount of money we paid for the room it was great

This was a beautiful and well kept hotel. Our room was overlooking the bay and it was a scenic, tranquil and quiet view. The staff was extremely helpful and courteous, they called us by name each time we needed something. My husband and I cannot wait to go back!

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Since this was on the Coronado island there were alot of little shops, restaurants and other attractions off the island were not far away. We even drove to Universal Studios which was approximately an 1 hr. 1/2 drive. I highly recommend this hotel especially in September when most kids are back in school.

Had a great stay - will return!!

Very comfortable room with no noise issues. Loved the pool area and pool bar. Parking was a bit pricey and one reason I may choose to look around at other hotels in the area to compare for future travels. Jason, concierge, was very friendly, professional, and helpful to us!

Nice hotel, just don’t request anything.

We requested a room with a view of the city, got one with a view of the docks. My husband had purchased a flower arrangement to be in the room upon our arrival, it remained at the front desk. Made reservations for dinner, guess what?

Wonderful San Diego Vacation

Loews was a fantastic hotel to stay at for my daughter’s and my mini vacation. The front desk staff was very efficient and friendly. We were given a very nice room with a great view. We both went to the Spa and had massages. Very pleased with our service. We did not eat at any of the restaurants as we had other plans outside of the hotel. Very convenient to have a Starbucks inside the hotel for early am coffee. One negative: had to pay $10 for use of the workout room; even though I had a spa service. Location was awesome and we had great weather.

Coronado Stay

The hotel was very nice but it ws not on the beach. Our room was overlooking a road and then we saw water but there was no beach. It was not what I expected. I would stay at a hotel that had a beach for the next trip to Coronado Island.
