The AC in our room was broken and it got hotter throughout the night after a 97 degree day. We complained in the morning and they said to pack up our things and they would move use. We were out all day and returned late at night to find they didn’t move us but the AC was fixed. I asked to have the night comped and they said they would, but we have yet to see this resolved through Expedia.

This was probably the worst hotel we have ever stayed at along with one of the most expensive. Our room was at 81 degrees because the air didn’t work,along with the refrigerator. When asked to switch rooms I was told no rooms were available but they would send someone up. Someone came up and changed the filters(absolutely disgusting how dirty they were). I was told it was fixed and we should be good. That was not the case, I had to go to the front desk 5 times before they would finally offer us a new room.While I was waiting a woman came down and complained the lock on her door didn’t work. Their response was okay well we will work on it in the morning, never offering the woman a new room. Then a gentleman comes down and complained about something small within his room. With no hesitation they offered him a new room with an upgrade! I was floored because it took me all day dealing with this finally at 9:30 at night to be offered a new room and the woman before him didn’t even get offered one. Once we got in our “new” room, the air worked a little better but not great(wouldn’t go below 72), the wallpaper was ripped, the faucet in the bathroom tub was coming out of the wall,the door had a big dent from someone kicking it, the deadbolt wouldn’t work, and nasty black spot on bathroom tub. The location was the only positive out of this whole experience. Also, If you are looking to change your room send a male, it seems that’s the only way your going to get one without complaint.

Great location for arts lovers. I stayed overnight after an evening performance at Lincoln Center, and the convenience was worth the price. The room was adequate, with good water pressure, plenty of hot water, and a comfortable-enough bed. Earplugs and white noise drowned out the hallway noise enough to get a good night's sleep, followed by an excellent breakfast at Masseria Caffe nearby. Spotted a cockroach, but it fled, and hey, this is Manhattan.

Nice hotel, great location, beautiful decor, spacious room, and rooftop area is awesome. Pool is small and was very crowded but we still enjoyed it. Room wasn’t ready until check in and lobby AC was minimal.

The directions to the pool were not easy to follow. We tried to access it through the elevators that go to the rooms, but once on that floor, we had to take stairs and ask around for the pool.

The location is amazing; I enjoyed the ability to walk to Central Park in the morning to start my days. There are great dining options, and it’s walkable to the theater district without being as busy as Times Square. Rooms are small but clean. The rooftop pool that we had looked forward to is more like a swim spa-we went up to check it out and it was so tiny we laughed out loud 😛. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

property seems to have fallen on hard times. there was a desk in our room but no chairs to sit on, which made it hard to work in our room. There were couches and tables on the mezzanine where you could work but no good business seating.

I am bery upset. Less than 24 hours after cheking out, I emailed the hotel, telling them that I forgot my pants in my room. As they are white, I didn't see them and placed them with the towels to clean. I have been reaching out to the hotel 3 times a week. At the begining they told me they were about fix this and them someonr told me to send another email! I just want to come and pick my pants to the hotel! They seem very quick to accept your money but for any small issue, they is nobody! a shame!

The Empire hotel is run down and in poor condition. The fitness center smells strongly of mold and I thought the bathroom door looked dirty so I checked with a wash cloth and it turned black. There were also mold spots on the air conditioning unit. I will not stay here again and would not recommend it. The staff was friendly, but it doesn’t make up for the mold.

Pros: Location Cons: Air conditioner didnt work. First room we got the unit wouldn't even turn on. No joke we had to go down the street to target and purchase a fan. I called front desk at 4:30pm they said they would send someone. By 10:30pm no one still had come up. Called again they said there was shift change someone would be up in 10 to 15 minutes. By 11:30pm still nothing. I call again asking if we could change rooms she let us change rooms to a second floor. While I was getting new room keys the lady at the front informed me all the rooms on the first floor were having air conditioner issues. Luckily the second room was manageable. No mini fridge. We were instructed to call housekeeping for ice, the final night we were there housekeeping ran out of ice. I was told by the front desk we could go up to the rooftop bar for ice. No coffee pot/machine. No room service, no vending machines, no self service ice. The front lobby is very nice however its misleading considering after you go up the elevators to the room floors the hallways are so dark you cant even see room numbers or where to insert your room key that only works half the trip. The pictures of the rooftop pool area are like 10 years old it is so dated out there. No cushions were on the outdoor furniture. The pool was awful looking. We tried to experience the rooftop bar and restaurant.. however since it is open to the public it was so busy it was unfortunate not being able to enjoy that area.
