Hotel Monaco Chicago - a Kimpton Hotel

Convenient, Comfortable, Modestly Luxurious

The site of the Monaco is hard to beat: across the river from, and in plain sight of, the Trump Tower. The rooms in the Monaco are about 1/3 the nightly cost of those in the Trump, and it is difficult to imagine that the Trump could offer anything more satisfying. The service in the Monaco is impeccable, the rooms are pristine, and the location is perfect for museum visits, nightlife, public transportation, and instantaneous access to Millennium Park.

Chicago Architecture Foundation, on MIchigan Avenue, just a few blocks south of the hotel and across the street from the Art Institute, offers regular, amazing walking, bus, and boat tours of the city’s architectural wonders. The docents are extremely well informed and entertaining. The foundation also maintains a store with filled with the best books and souvenirs available on Chicago architecture.

Gem

I used to stay here years ago and had forgotten about this friendly and wonderful little hotel. I was then - and was again now - always pleased with the hotel, the staff, the room, the amenities, the location - it is a great find in downtown Chicago and I highly recommend it.

Nice hotel. Parking cost $42 though, did not expect that.

Great Hotel

Excellent location just south of Chicago River and west of Michigan Avenue. Very friendly and helpful staff. Wine reception was very nice.

CTA bus drivers were very helpful and informative when they found out you were visiting the city. If you are in Chicago for the weekend, the three day CTA pass (for trains and buses) was a bargain; get one at the airport upon arrival.

Premium hotel for standard cost.

This was a very accomodating hotel with a full range of services. The level of comfort and service exceeded the cost.

excellent boutique hotel

the only thing is that- since it was a boutique hotel, the name was not big or prominent , my friends couldn’t find it (i think they were looking for the usual "huge" hotels) however, i enjoyed my stay and the location is great! service was excellent

awesome bienvenue

My French friend was visiting the US for the first time, so we wanted to experience Chicago. I booked this hotel as a treat for us. She had wanted to spend less, but being able to walk around the great areas downtown, to me, makes a visit to Chicago great! I kicked in the extra and it was worth it. We could walk to Watertower place, Navy Pier, Millenium Park, Grant Park, everything. The staff was very helpful and accomodating, The breakfasts next door were delicious. La Francaise understands why I love to visit Chicago. I would definitely stay here again!

If you book tickets at the Drury Lane Theater in Oak Brook, know that you can’t get there on public transportation from downtown without using taxis and walking. We walked around the corner to Enterprise, got good directions and drove there. Had to come back during the height of rush hour, but it was fine, and I’m not accustomed to city driving.

- check the rooms and if the door is open before you check in guests. - dont open the door on guests while they are in the room just to show other guests the room type.

Will stay here next visit

Aloof but competent staff. Given a room with a strong odor of smoke (in a smoke free hotel) I was given a lovely room on the 14th floor. Quiet and well situated in Chicago for walking.

Sylish, Nice & Clean Rooms, Great Service, Good location

This stylish hotel is very nice and clean. The service is excellent. The front desk and bell personnels are polite and helpful. The location is very convenient and safe. It is very close to the Michigan Ave, the Loop, Riverwalk, subway stations, and the Magnificent Miles. I will definitely stay at this hotel again.

It is located in the heart of the city. Everything is nearby. We actually walked from Soldier Field, we followed the Sear Tower. The best choice all around.

Great Hotel! Definitely will go back!

We stayed for a girl’s weekend this fall and it was wondeful. Three of us stayed in a mediterranean suite and it was a great size. Two stayed in the king bed and one stayed on the pullout couch. Loved the window seats! They are huge and so fun to sit in and look out on the city. Only negatives are small shower with very little counterspace in the bath, and the concierge wasn’t very skilled at recommending good eats. He sent us to a restaurant which was overpriced and not very good. We did better picking our own restaurants after that first night. Good location and fun hotel!

Downtown Chicago what a beautiful city. Stay at the Monaco Hotel my friend and you are there dead center. We recommend the Monaco to all travelers who want a high level of friendly service, great food, and a comfortable bed. It is a real gem.

What a pleasure

We really had a wonderful stay - from the time we checked in the staff was helpful and friendly - the concierge was spot on in it’s recommendations. Since I had to leave my pups at home the gold fish was a nice addition.

Chicago’s Best

The location was fabulous, between Michigan and State St., block from the river, a few blocks to Milenium Park. Service and staff were excellent. They can really spoil you! Wine reception nightly at 5pm and fresh baked cookies at 3pm. Can’t get any better!

Great service!

Great boutique hotel in a very convenient location. Rooms were nice, but could use a little updating. Nevertheless, the service is very strong here, and the concierge staff is invaluable if you’re in need of maps, directions, recommendations, etc. They were always available.

Be sure to take advantage of the afternoon wine hour and appetizers served - delicious! Also: Try to get a room with a river view!

Wonderful accommodations just off of Michigan Avenue. Two short blocks from State and Lake stop on the red line of the L. Hotel staff pleasant and more than willing to go that extra mile that made our stay so nice. We would definitely recommend this hotel.
