Comfortable well-located hotel

This is a comfortable well-located hotel which I’ve always liked. The rooms are nicely appointed and the hotel is convenient to the EL and to Michigan Aveneue. It is good that room rates have returned to a reasonable level after having been in the stratosphere. Though I usually avoid hotel restaurants, the one that shares the same building is very good.

Small gem, just off Michigan Avenue

A travel book recommended this place and I’m glad it did. It has all the usual amenities, but the rooms have a flair, kind of an Indian (east Indian) decor. Since I arrived at night, at first I was taken back a bit, but as the days I stayed wore on, I enjoyed the room more and more. Also had a nice view of Marina Towers. Good neighborhood, great staff, everything you need for the Windy City.

Already recommended to several Friends

Went to Chicago for a weekend, planned on visiting museums etc. Our hotel was situated perfectly. Close to the tram and within walking distance of the museums. The first night the room next to us was noisy, went down in the morning to see if they where staying. When asked why I explained and the front desk upgraded us to another room with a much better view. Would recommend the river view rooms, great for the extra money. The window seats are fun, my daughter loved to sit in them when relaxing. When looking for someplace to eat the concierge at the front desk not only knew the restaurants he printed out the information and menus from the ones he suggested. Was a wonderful weekend made bettter by the Hotel.

Hotel Monaco - excellent again

This was our second stay at the Hotel Monaco and it was again an excellent experience. We didn’t take advantage of the cocoa in the afternoon or coffee in the morning in the lobby, but it was welcoming just to know it was there. When there was a problem with the computer in the business center, the desk promptly made sure there was a refund. Hotel personnel were friendly and professional and the restaurant next door is excellent.

We had a wonderful stay at the Hotel Monaco. The staff are welcoming and the hotel is very comfortable and quiet. The location is excellent for both the Loop and the Magnificent Miles.

Kim and Tom’s Excellent Downtown Chicago Trip

The place was beautiful, and the staff was cheerful and helpful. The room was big, clean, and quiet; the bed was huge and cozy. Extra bonus: The adjoining bar and restaurant, the South Water Kitchen, was an excellent place for drinks and dinner. Despite the brevity of our stay, it was much more than we were expecting.

Fabulous hotel!

This hotel is perfectly located in the loop and is within walking distance of many downtown Chicago attractions. The hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. The hotel bar and restaurant where first class. I would definitely stay at this hotel again!

Great Hotel will go back

The staff was very helpful and the facilities were perfect. Great location easy to walk most places and get to public transporation. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone for business or pleasure.

Very nice, cute anc convenient hotel

My husband and I stayed here for four days during Christmas break. The location is unbeatable! Close to everything. There is also a metro station right in front of the hotel besides 7/11 convenience store. By the way, that 7/11 even opens on 12/25. Everywhere else is closed and 7/11 saved us:) Parking is 42.00 for 24 hours. But remember it(parking) started from 2pm everyday. For holiday and weekends, there are some spots near to hotel you can park for free. One thing I don’t like as for the hotel room is--they have a big mirror right beside of the bed(double room). I don’t feel comfortable to sleep beside a mirror but I did not ask for change a room. Maybe they do have some rooms without. The housekeeping lady(Cindy-I remember) was so nice. Plus, they use l’occitane products. Love it.

Relaxing

The staff was friendly and very accomodating to us. They arranged for parking for our car, helped us with directions and recommedations on the sights.

long-time favorite

The Monaco has been a consistent and attractive favorite for many years. The location is perfect, the rooms are comfortable, clean and pretty, and the restaurant has great breakfasts. We do use a self-park around the block rather than the adjoining parking lot. It is cheaper and easier to get in and out of the car as needed.

Not impressed

Location is good. Service was not what we thought it would be, based on the reviews we read here. We will try another hotel on our next trip.

Hotel Monaco Chicago

Hotel Monaco Chicago - Nice hotel. It compares well to other Kimpton Hotels and the location is great.

Planning a trip next month and will make this our stay.....perfect access to theatre district.

We have stayed in Chicago many times but just found this hotel and will make this a must stay for any future visits. Easy walking to theatre district and art museum and Magnificent Mile. Loved the decorating style and even pet friendly, we are considering that for next time too.

Great location

Great location and the staff was very helpful and personable. Walking distance to Sears ( Willis) Tower, Navy Pier, and only two blocks to Michigan Ave.

Great value in Chicago

Not the biggest hotel but very nice. Clean, comfortable rooms with everything you need. Wine in pm, coffee in am in lobby. No complaints! I would definitely go back.

Convenient, Comfortable, Modestly Luxurious

The site of the Monaco is hard to beat: across the river from, and in plain sight of, the Trump Tower. The rooms in the Monaco are about 1/3 the nightly cost of those in the Trump, and it is difficult to imagine that the Trump could offer anything more satisfying. The service in the Monaco is impeccable, the rooms are pristine, and the location is perfect for museum visits, nightlife, public transportation, and instantaneous access to Millennium Park.

Chicago Architecture Foundation, on MIchigan Avenue, just a few blocks south of the hotel and across the street from the Art Institute, offers regular, amazing walking, bus, and boat tours of the city’s architectural wonders. The docents are extremely well informed and entertaining. The foundation also maintains a store with filled with the best books and souvenirs available on Chicago architecture.

Gem

I used to stay here years ago and had forgotten about this friendly and wonderful little hotel. I was then - and was again now - always pleased with the hotel, the staff, the room, the amenities, the location - it is a great find in downtown Chicago and I highly recommend it.

Great Hotel

Excellent location just south of Chicago River and west of Michigan Avenue. Very friendly and helpful staff. Wine reception was very nice.

CTA bus drivers were very helpful and informative when they found out you were visiting the city. If you are in Chicago for the weekend, the three day CTA pass (for trains and buses) was a bargain; get one at the airport upon arrival.

Premium hotel for standard cost.

This was a very accomodating hotel with a full range of services. The level of comfort and service exceeded the cost.
