Join us on a one hour walking tour of picturesque Machias, Maine. Located on the Machias River, this small coastal town has a rich history and played an important role in the Revolutionary War. Come walk around the downtown area and explore the many colonial buildings that still stand today. The tour will focus on some of the highlights of Maine history. In addition to the Revolution, the history of Maine's other central industries, fishing and forestry have also left their mark on the area. This rural location is full of hidden gems! The route of the tour will be mostly flat and will pass by the courthouse, Porter Library, and an up close view of Bad Little Falls. This area has a rich history that often does not get recognized. These tours are typically very small ranging from 2-4 people on average.
