The Captiva Charm is Magical!
Part of me wants to resist leaving a review to keep this incredible cottage to ourselves, but the Captiva Charm is nothing short of magical. The grounds and house are even better than pictured and had every amenity we could want (with the exception of a blender). The location was perfect with a view of the beautiful Gulf of Mexico and Captiva Sunsets from the front porch - and also being a quick 2-3 minute golf cart ride into "town". We had our 2-year old daughter with us and she loved the house and it was perfect for our family. It took us about 3 minutes to walk to the beach and a beach cart/umbrella/chairs/towels were provided, which made it so convenient. We loved staying here and are already talking about our next trip! 10/10

if you want your own beach, this is it
From the outside, the cottage seems out of place based on the looks. It seems like it should be located on the mountains rather than on an island. It does not be all that great. But, don't let that fool you because the inside is super nice and cozy. Plenty of space for the 3 adults in the main cottage and 2 adults in the side cottage. It is perfectly situated to access the beach with a very short stroll across the street. I have never been to a beach where the next umbrella over was about 400 yards (about a par 4 in golf) away. We always felt the beach was to ourselves. The house is also about a 4 minute golf cart drive to the village where the restaurants are. If I had to say anything "negative" I would say the wifi and cell phone signal is horrible, at least using Tmobile. A few issues like door handle, kitchen cabinet door that fell off and was never fixed after reporting it as well as a lamp that does not work in the master bedroom. Also, after a power outage, the stove and oven stopped working. Hopefully these get fixed asap.

Thank you so much. The cottage is an olde captiva style cottage compared to the large mansions of today. We have tried to make it as welcoming as possible. The home does have high speed wifi through xfinity which should be nearly gigabit. The minor Maintenace issues have been taken care of and the stove just needed the breaker reset. We’ll look forward to welcoming you again soon

Perfect location
This property has a perfect location. Very clean and housed with everything we needed. My only issues was the place was double booked. The other family arrived at the same time as us. I had a hard time getting a hold of the rental agent. The home fortunately was in our name. I felt terrible for the other family. Not sure what happened to them!! The master bedroom sheets did not fit the mattress properly and the toilet seat in the master needs repaired. We had a very quiet and relaxing time.

We are incredibly sorry to hear about the double booking situation. This is absolutely unacceptable and should never have happened. It turned out to be a Craigslist Scam, unfortunately. We understand the stress it caused you and apologize for the inconvenience. We'd also like to apologize for the mismatched sheets in the master bedroom and the faulty toilet seat. These details should have been addressed during our cleaning and maintenance checks. We will be sure to follow up with our cleaning crew and ensure these issues are resolved immediately. Regarding the other family, we are truly sorry for their experience as well. Thank you for your understanding. We hope you'll give us another chance to provide you with a flawless stay in the future.

An amazing view of the sunset on the ocean.
Overall it was a really nice place with a great view if the sunset on the ocean. I was a little bummed by the people that were staying in the house behind us on the shared property as they were loud until late at night and woke our son up quiet a few times. Only issues we had with the stay weren't major ones such as a dirty pan in the oven and some hair from the previous guests in the main shower. Both were easily fixed by us and definitely didnt ruin the family vacation. The nature around the house is beautiful and my son was fascinated with all the different lizards around the property. Would definitely rent it again.

Slice of Heaven
We had an amazing vacation at Captiva Charm. The cottage was so clean and comfortable. It was so private surrounded by beautiful foliage. The beach is right across the street and it wasn’t crowded at all. We made so many wonderful memories! Hope we can return again soon! We highly recommend this special place to vacation!

Very special place!
Captiva Charm was everything we hoped for and more! Immaculate, updated "old school" beach house in a prime location. Inviting beach decor inside, nice beds and bedding, all the amenities a family needs. We especially loved the comfortable outdoor seating for morning and evening meals and drinks, star gazing and conversation. The property has gorgeous landscaping and the view is fantastic. You can tell the owners and managers really care to make sure everything is perfect. Great communication. Cannot wait to return!

Paradise on Captiva
This is a charming beach home, squeaky clean and well-maintained! We watched the sunset every night from the house or beachfront. Communication from the property manager was excellent and we had absolutely no issues or hiccups. Highly recommend, will be back!

Best Vacation Ever!
This location was absolutely beautiful and perfect for my family! We had a wonderful time with just a walk across the street to a private beach spot. The house was exactly as it looked in the photos and so clean! I loved the look of the inside. The patio was spacious and the hot tub a very nice relaxing end to a long day of fun activities! The owner, Michele, was wonderful and so helpful. Making sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay! I looked forward to another stay at Captiva Charm!

Nice place. Easy access to the gulf side beach, no access to the bay side. House was nicely decorated. Would be perfect for two couples since it has separate building with queen with bathroom. It was clean, looked like there were plenty of beach toys available, outdoor shower was nice, hot tub was very relaxing. The biggest disappointment was the kitchen. We have stayed another rentals where you felt like you were staying in someone’s house. Stocked with oil, a small amount of flour, sugar, everything you could possibly need to bake or cook with, etc. This house had nothing. No salt and pepper to be found. (Possibly a change after covid? Just wish i would have known beforehand.) The biggest problem was that the oven didn’t work at all. For a family of 5, a lot of meal planning went into the week. It’s just too expensive to keep going out. They sent a handyman out to see if the oven was an easy fix, he was not able to fix it. After that no one came out. We were told we would be reimbursed a small amount. Two weeks later, we still have not yet seen it. Fortunately the gas grill was very nice and clean. The house was nice, but we won’t be using vrbo again. We planned on paying around $3500 for the week. The total with all of the additional fees was $5000. $1500 in additional fees is ridiculous.

The separate building with a queen bed and bathroom does indeed make it perfect for two couples. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by the non-functioning oven. This is certainly not the standard we strive for, and we understand how frustrating it must have been, especially for a family of five with planned meals. We appreciate your patience while we attempted to have it repaired. We can confirm that the reimbursement for the oven is being processed, and you should see the funds within the next [Number] business days. We apologize for the delay. Regarding the lack of basic cooking supplies like salt, pepper, oil, etc., we are re-evaluating our stocking policy to ensure future guests have what they need for basic cooking. While some changes were made due to COVID, this shouldn't have impacted the availability of these essentials. We understand your frustration with the additional fees associated with your VRBO booking. These fees are typically set by the platform itself and not by individual property owners. We value your feedback and will use it to improve the guest experience at our condo. We hope you'll consider giving us another chance in the future, and perhaps we can change your mind about VRBO rentals altogether.
