Como Vacations from $746

The room was great, wish it was a king instead of two beds. I would stay here again.

The Greyhound Inn was converted to a boutique hotel from the Greyhound Bus Station near downtown Tyler, TX. The remodeling was very tasteful. The good: 1. Walking to downtown and several restaurants was a short two block walk. If you have business downtown, this is probably the closest hotel and your not having to worry about finding a parking spot. 2. The room was very spacious. Besides the king-sized bedroom, there was a living areas with writing desk, and a large kitchen area. 3. The TV is one of the largest that I've seen in hotels. The bad: 1. There is no lobby and no attendant on duty. It is all done by text and phone calls as the hotel staff is remote. 2, When I forgot the code to get into the hotel after going out to dinner, I had to call several times and leave messages to get in contact with the hotel. Part of this was my fault as I jumbled the code but it left me with a feeling of abandonment on a street corner that was kind of sketchy. 3. Blinds are needed in the huge windows overlooking the street with the afternoon sun pouring into the living area and open in the evening. 4. While not the hotel's fault, the downtown square was under construction so the area seemed like there were no visitors. There were only the two of us in the restaurant at 7 PM The bad: 1. Our room was overlooking the street traffic. We woke many times due to heavy truck traffic shifting through their gears, especially around 5 AM. Because of that, our sleep was not very restful.

Michael and Barbara are wonderful hosts. They prepared a wonderful breakfast for us each morning and also were able to recommend some things to do in the area. The room was comfy and cozy.

Based on the excellent reviews of this.place, we booked The Cottage for a 3night long weekend stay. The Cottage is next to the owner's home. It is cute and quaint, but not elegent. Which is just fine for cabin in the woods Unfortunately, the owner's dog barked all evening and well into the night right iutside our cabin. I called him at 11:50pm, and he says the dog barks every night and there is nothing je could do about it. After a 4 hour nights sleep, we dedcided to leave the next morning. So beware renting The Cottage. Other cabins may be fine.
