"Wonderful property - we loved the owner, he is very kind and welcoming and all the staff are so helpful. The area is very convenient and off the main street so it's very peaceful. We loved the helpful info booklet in the room and great breakfast too!"

"Good location five minutes walk from the beach and dock.
Check in was easy and the guy on reception very friendly. Room was a good size and clean with air conditioning.
Bed was comfortable and the shower was good.
Nice breakfast area and plenty of food to choose from.

We had booked 3 rooms, and had no. 2, 3 and 4. Room no 2 had only a neon light in the room and was very crowded because of an extra bed, which couldn’t be taken of the room!☹️

"Room wasn’t clean. Lots of stains on the sheets and pillow cases. Dirty shower and the water pressure was very low. They also would not store our bags after check out. Early check out at 10am and not being able to store our bags is super inconvenient. Our ferry was at 4pm but the earliest ferry was 12noon. So even with the earliest ferry you have to drag your bags around for hours. "

"The location is fabulous. Directly on the main strip in front of the sea. Staff was helpful. After checking in the AC wouldn't turn on. Fixed that.. 2 hrs later it was still hot so a technician came and we went to dinner. Upon return at 1 am, it was cooler but not cold. So i let them know in the morning before heading out. When returned in the evening it was much cooler. The shower was not very clean..it had old stains. It was also very finicky.. usually scalding hot. I was on the 2nd floor......

"This is a lovely small hotel. At first I thought I was missing out by not being in the town, but this was SOOO much better - quiet, beautiful, with hiking and beaches near by. They went out of their way to be helpful (rescuing me when I got lost on a hike). The only small suggestion I would make is that they should allow guests to fill up water bottle with their filtered water to save on unnecessarily using plastic bottles (or at least sell large bottles of water). "The staff are very friendly and accommodating! Andre speaks English which helped us very much in navigating schedules and fun tours to attend. The morning breakfast on the patio is so delicious and peaceful. Beds are super comfortable and staff clean the room and linens daily. Very lovely inn! "
"We had a wonderful stay at Pousada Ancoradouro! The front desk staff were excellent, so friendly and helpful. The sea room was fabulous, and we had a drink on it looking out at the sea. The garden too is a great spot to read a book or have a drink. They also provide beach chairs that you can take out with you. Cleaners clean the room every day. The breakfast had a wide choice of variety and fresh eggs made how you like. Coffee was avaiable at different points throughout the day to which was an unexpected bonus. Overall we loved our stay and didn't want to leave!"
"A not so good experience. The property is much smaller than it seems. The air conditioning does not work well at all and the upstairs is unlivable with heat all night. The kitchen is small, there was no gas, and the pots were very dirty. The bathroom had no hot water at times but had a good current. We tried to stay out as much as possible and even left a day early because we could not anymore. Not worth the price!"

The downside is the location— it is not that convenient. There is a safety gate to stop every single car entering the neighborhood, which takes us a long time to wait. Walking is not a great option either as there is no restaurant or convenience store nearby. Also the tap water is yellow colored, but it happens to all the rooms in this house, not just ours. Be prepared to get some fresh and clean water if you are sensitive. Overall it is a good place to live with"
