First off, this is a 700 year old building. I cannot even imagine having to maintain modern facilities in such an old property. That's where the deductions come off for cleanliness and maintenance. The positives: Friendly and helpful staff, absolutely prime location inside the Latin quarter. 30 seconds after leaving your room, you can be ordering a pint at the pub next door. They mention the noise in the description, but it wasn't really a big issue so long as you kept the windows closed. The negatives: Our room (Wordsworth) was TINY (again, it's a 700 year old building so that is to be expected), but the room was more appropriately sized for a single twin bed when it had a double. There was maybe 8" of space on the wall side of the room and a foot and a half on the bathroom side of the room. The mattress was...not good. No support on the sides of the mattress, so as soon as you found yourself there (at the side of the bed, as will be the case with 2 standard+ sized adults) gravity really wanted to put me on the floor. The TV didn't work, it just sat there blinking red at us. Finally and most concerning (to me), once you start the shower, you might as well have been on an ice rink. The shower floor was INCREDIBLY slippery. A rubber mat would have made all the difference.

The toilet kept running all night, then ran out of water in the middle of a shower. Texted the property owner, who failed to respond. The staff at the coffee shop below was very nice, and they tried to help, but they did not get a response from the property owner either.

It is a cozy hotel. The staff there is very nice and welcome.

Excellent stay at the hotel just outside of Galway city. Very helpful staff, modern and clean room with air conditioning which was great as the weather was warm and humid. Nice included breakfast with our room including a tasty continental selection as well as a cooked breakfast in addition. Excellent location for a day trip to the Aran Islands with the ferry terminal less than 30 minutes away. Very helpful staff - we were impressed that they express posted my brother's airpods to our next hotel free of charge when he accidentally left them in the room when we checked out. Would stay here again, great hotel!
