This was the best hotel we stayed at in Japan. It was brand new and the design was so stylish. A boutique, luxury hotel. The room was amazing - spacious, luxurious and airy with great views over Kyoto to the hills. Such a pleasure to relax in and come back to after our days out in Kyoto. The metro and train station was steps away which made it easy to get around and also to leave for Osaka.
The main street into downtown Kyoto from Gion was also steps away but because the hotel is on a side street, you don't get the passing traffic - cars or foot traffic. You can step straight out of the hustle into quiet.
Pontocho Alley is a stones throw away, we walked to the Nikishi Markets and across into Gion.
The kids thought they were royalty staying here and they loved the complimentary drinks in the lobby. They would go down every morning and help themselves to iced cocoas.
I would whole-heartedly recommend this hotel to all.

The hotel had great staff and had all the amenities you could need. There is a spa on the third floor and a laundromat on the first floor. On top of the usual things you would find in an hotel room, our room came with a large fridge, a microwave, a stovetop and even dishes and silverware. Dotonbori being a few minutes away is the cherry on top.
