Family weekend
Lots of room with spacious main floor where we could all be together and game areas and porches for separation. Everything on the interior of the cabin was clean and the kitchen was well-equipped with a new toaster and coffeemaker (although I would have preferred a keurig type with pods). The beds and pillows were plentiful and comfortable. The linens were clean but worn. The screened in porches needed a good dusting, and the doors to the outside didn’t lock or even fully close. Even so, we enjoyed the upstairs screened porch, playing scattergories on a stormy night! The gas grill is on its last leg, but we managed to light part of it and cooked in shifts. Location is great. Convenient to everything. Instructions for tv, internet, etc… were easy to follow. Host responded quickly to emails and helped me rent a pontoon. We had a great time and would go back.

Beautiful Cabin, but...
I absolutely loved this rental except for the fact that my friends complained of stains on the bedding and I also found stains on the bedding that is why I gave cleanliness a three everything else was great...

We loved it!
Quiet location, great for getting away. We all enjoyed the cabin very much. Was very roomy and suited us all. Everything was clean and stocked well with basic necessities. We loved it and hope to return.

If You Like Mice, Drugs, and Dirty Panties
...this is the place for you. Filthy. Disgusting. Unsafe. We found beer bottles, dirty underwear, and a ziploc bag of drugs under the bed. DO NOT BRING CHILDREN. Things are dusty, broken, and hazardous. If you came for the hot tub, DO NOT COME. They blamed the jacuzzi not heating on us because the water level got low when we all got in. However, the truth of the matter is one of our guests got in both hot tubs they gave us access to on her own for at least 15 minutes and it was cold both times before the water level lowered. The property manager made us go to another property to get the hose after we asked her to help us so it became a job to refill a hot tub that never worked in the first place. The hot tub is really small and has one jet that no one feels. It's a Luke warm outdoor bath at best. While working at the other house, we noticed the hot tub over there appeared better. I believe they offered us access to that hot tub because I mentioned it. But it was dysfunctional as well. We did make mistakes when trying to work the hose and do the work on our own. But again, I left a voice-mail asking the property manager to come fix it once we realized how complicated things were getting (we originally offered to fill it ourselves) and she responded by texting us instructions of getting what we needed from the house next door). So that's on them for leaving us to do something that they originally offered to do and we eventually asked them to do. The water began to overflow because we came upstairs to warm up. Our hands were freezing from working. Mice droppings were everywhere on every level of the house. On the counters on the ledge, on the floor, under the bed,on the windows. Everywhere. We barely wanted our things in the house when we realized how bad it was. The place is utterly disgusting. We tried to make the best of it. We cleaned, we disinfected, we threw things away that were not ours and sent a list of all the issues to the owners. The property managers responded with an equal, in length, letter blaming us for most of it and explaining that the mice problem is the fault of past guests who leave the door open and it being in the woods. Not that the house has several entry points that need to be sealed. Not clean, Rosebud is not accountable, not safe, not worth the money. They offered to refund the cleaning fee which we are waiting on. We stayed at one of their properties last year and had the opposite experience. Never again though

First of all we have addressed the importance of the cleaning issues with the housekeeper. This house does sit heavy into the trees and mice are not uncommon out here and we have physically seen them come into the lower level family room when the door is open to the hot tub. I did see some mice droppings here and there and again have addressed them but it was not an infestation. Yes there was a pair of underwear and a little baggy of maybe 2-3 pills in it that was left under the bed along with a beer bottle and again have seriously addressed that issue. The hot tub water level was dropped below the skimmer which is why it quit circulating or heating. The hot tub was full and heated prior to the arrival. We asked a couple of times if they wanted us to come up and we were told no they would take care of it and after they called and said they couldn't we decided we definitely needed to come up and upon arriving found they put the hose in the hot tub and turned the water on and then ignored it and the tub overflowed and coming out the back of the house because it flooded the hot tub room. Again we have addressed the issues but I suggest for the sake of both the guest and rental company that you let us come up and help with the situation right away even if you think you have it under control so nothing gets out of hand.

Great place to relax for weekend
Property is huge. Indoor is updated but some places were never dusted … Back porch and jacuzzi need rehab. Also TV set was old fashioned without on demand programs. Since we didn’t come there to watch Tv that wasn’t big issue. Overall great experience- kitchen well equipped, comfortable living room furniture and mattresses in bedrooms Thank you! Galena territory is beautiful during fall:)

Wonderful Cabin!
The host is absolutely amazing and responded to all of my messages within minutes. The house is very spacious and comfortable. We were close to the lake which is exactly what we wanted. Highly recommend this property!

Cozy retreat in Apple River Canyon
We have a family with 3 small children, and this Apple River Canyon property was absolutely ideal! It had every amenity in the home for a comfortable stay, play was close to all ARC activities offered. Can't wait to come back!

Great place, but needs a bit of work
Thank you for renting us out your place. Here are a few things I noticed. - Trip hazard (rug) both upstairs and downstairs(this needs fixed asap) - No pot holders in the kitchen - No kitchen towels - no cutting boards - Towels ALL NEED replaced (dirty/stained) - Remove the fake plants (dust collector) so much dust! - No clear directions for garbage/pool/amenities (green book is very outdated....almost 15 years) - Needs a deep clean over all (window coverings, window sills, back porch, remove fake flowers) - Couch handle broken/foot lift broken - not enough toilet paper (one roll had a brown stain on it ) This could be FANTASTIC but it needs a little work and a BIG DEEP CLEANING. Overall it was a great place for a little getaway. Thank you for renting!

Great time ! Loved it! It was very clean. Everything was great except our hot tub experience. Only one jet worked. When we called the management to let them know about the hot tub not being in working order we were told we should’ve rented a different unit. We were not appreciative of that response, but other than that the overall experience was great. We enjoyed the game tables and the cleanliness of the property. The beds were extremely firm. Property was further outside of Galena then we anticipated.

Great for family trip
The house was a great place to stay during a weekend ski trip to Chestnut Mountain. We were two families with four children 6-9. The downstairs game room served as perfect entertainment for the kids. The kitchen was competently outfitted. The property was all around comfortable. The drive to Chestnut Mountain was approximately 35 minutes.

Girls Weekend
This property was lovely, and the neighborhood was too. This place pulled up when I was looking for a home by Galena. Said it was a 20 mile drive and thought it would be about a 20 minute drive. Only negative comment would be that it took 40 minutes to drive to Galena on very winding, hilly roads. A little scary at night. On a positive note, the scenery was fantastic!

Very clean, plenty of room! Ice maker in fridge didn't work and hot tub only 1 jet worked.
More attention to details in exterior rooms (hot tub area and screen room off the kitchen. Needs more cleaning) interior very very clean. Private and nice place and enjoyed it!

Really nice get away
We were looking to getaway for a couple of nights with our three teenage kids. We were not disappointed. The kids enjoyed the hot tub and we had plenty of space to spread out comfortably to relax, play games and complete a puzzle. The house was clean and well stocked with towels and items listed in their vrbo blurb. The only drawback was that the hot tub room smelled a bit dank but that didn’t stop us from enjoying it. Beds were comfortable, coffeemaker kept the coffee hot and temperature was easy to control. Enjoyed a nice walk around Apple canyon river resort. Would recommend this rental if you’re looking for a relaxing getaway.

Winter Break in Apple River Conyon
Hi. Great stay overall. The hot tub isn't in good condition and there is a hot water issue. We seldom had enough hot water for all of us to shower. There were some cleanliness issues in the hot tub area (spider webs with a ton of eggs in them). The handle to the upstairs sliding door fell of the first time we tried to open that porch door. Overall, however, nice place to stay. Great location and a beautifual area. We may return someday in summer when we can make full use of the area's summertime activities.

Apple Canyon
The property and lodging is nice, however when we first arrived a mouse greeted us running from room to room. We contacted the property managers who brought out mice traps where we baited and successfully caught and disposed of. Not really to be surprised with a cabin in the woods but not something we really anticipated of dealing with either. The lodging is located right off a 4wheel trail so it gets pretty dusty. There are some walking trails to get down to see a section of Canyon Lake. The place was somewhat clean but could use a deep clean such as random items under beds left from previous guests, kitchen cabinets/drawers with crumbs, and under the kitchen sink and laundry area totally neglected. Thankfully we were only there for a short weekend and didn't need to actually use the laundry room. Overall we had a great time and would recommend this place to others who maybe don't care as much about deep cleaning.

Getaway from the City
My wife and I needed a break from our 600sqft apartment in Chicago after 9 months of lock down. This cabin was larger than we had initially thought but are not complaining at all. The grill let us cook some steaks/brats in the evenings, The hot tub was lovely after we went hiking in Apple River Canyon. Everything was clean, my wife has some OCD about cleanliness and was prepared to lysol the whole place down but when we arrived she didn't feel the need to do that and felt that she could just relax. We would come back again with friends as the cabin has enough bedrooms to sleep 8. Highly recommend for anyone looking to get away.

Summer getaway
We enjoyed the stay at the cabin. We were looking for a socially distanced vacation and this cabin was perfect for us. We had two adults and two teens. The wi-fi wasn't the best but that was ok. Enjoyed the amenities offered. We used the pool and rented the boat. Just know you need to work with the property manager to schedule time for the pool and rent a boat. I would come back to Apple Canyon Lake.

Beautiful area
Apple Canyon was great. This house was very spacious and had everything we needed. The house could use a little maintenance but we would definitely go back. There is a big fire pit out back so bring your camping chairs.

Great location, but needs some upkeep
Great location, with a nice floor plan and very spacious. The area is nice- pool and beach, plus very affordable golf course just down the street. The "game room" was misleading- there is a shuffleboard-type bowling game that didn't really work, a small foosball table, and a very small air hockey table in need of some repairs. There are a lot of board games, puzzles, etc. but everything was very used and abused and missing pieces or broken. The bedrooms, kitchen, and bathrooms are all large, quiet, and comfortable for a large family, but could use general maintenance and repairs- light bulbs out, loose screws and knobs and towel racks, etc. The fire pit area is quiet and secluded, but we had to bring our own chairs to the backyard as there wasn't any seating. Great place if you're looking to spend time outdoors and around the lake- but could use a good once-over to get back to perfect working condition for those days/nights spent inside the cabin.

Family Getaway
I can’t say enough about how clean this house was! Only bad thing is that the internet connectivity was horrible. I’m not sure if it is just the location in ACL or their provider. But, it is nice to not have the kids on their iPads all the time! The house had tons of games and an awesome hot tub. Everyone really enjoyed themselves!!

Nice games and house outdated and not very clean
Our family had a great time. We did love the games and the space of the place. The amenities, remotes, tv, furniture are on the old outdated or damaged side. We also did not love the overall cleanliness of the place. I’d say it’s good for young college age people looking for a getaway. Also no phone signals!

Great location, steep price
The property itself is beautiful and in a great location if you want to get away from city life. Bring what you need, because the trip to the closest town is 20+ minutes away. And when they say nothing is provided...they definitely mean no basic condiments, seasoning etc. The cost for the rental during off season seemed pretty steep though and the additional amenities that a typical rental should have were lacking. Specifically the lake obviously not in use with the weather, the marina store limited hours and selection since it was last weekend open, and swimming pool closed. Basic amenities such as toiletries assortment, hairdryer would have been nice. However, the additional tasks asked when already paying a prime fee PLUS cleaning fee seemed too much. Having to haul your garbage in your private vehicle to a recycling/trash center only to find out it was closed because we weren’t provided with any instructions other than to take it and drop it off or be fined $75 (such as limited hours of operation open only 730-930am). Now we are left with our garbage in our car as I write this review. Mildew in the bathtub and showers and an extremely over chlorinated hot tub also took away from an otherwise great location.

A great place for our family to stay on a rainy weekend
With our growing family, this was a great place to stay. The house was clean. The rooms were updated. The outside needs staining, but that was fine. The only thing that did not work for us was the fireplace and our phone calls. If you walk up the drive way to the road, our phones worked. There wireless worked for internet. Thank you

Cozy cabin with all the amenities you'd want for winter fun!
We stayed at the resort for a long weekend over the holidays with 5 adults, and it was absolutely fantastic! The cabin is much more spacious than it looks in photos. There was enough rome for everyone to have their own area. The decor has a nice country cabin style that makes for a a cozy retreat. The wifi was a little slow which was nice as everyone got to spend time with each other rather than on their devices. Bring DVD's in case you're planning to stream content from Netflix. The fireplace worked the first day, but it has a timer when it gets too hot and did not work the remainder of the 2 days that we were there. Also, the screened hot tub is perfect for the winter months, but the jets were a little slow. We didn't mind though as the hot water was relaxing after skiing/snowboarding. The resort also has some nice trails that were nice to go on walks after big holiday meals. Overall, I would definitely come back!

Comfortable and loved the open concept!
This property had everything we needed for our girl’s weekend getaway! Was a bit farther from Galena than we liked, but we enjoyed the country setting. The only suggestions would be to check the chairs & counter stools as they were coming apart on almost each one which wasn’t particularly safe. Also, we thought there would be some board games available but found only incomplete random kid games. But overall, we would recommend this property.
