Yes, the hotel is showing its age a little, and I mean only a little, but you’re there for a classic ryokan so it’s part of the experience. The staff are amazing and the hotel has fantastic amenities. They provide a shuttle to and from Kawaguchiko Station, public and private onsen baths, and an amazing view of Fuji-san from the rooftop deck. On top of that, the kaseki dinner and breakfast are spectacular. The food is excellent, plus we were served in our own private room within the restaurant, with a lovely view of the lake. We can’t say enough good things about this hotel! I’ve honestly never left a hotel review before and probably never will again, but this place is worth it. Hoping this draws attention to this hidden gem, to keep it running until we’re able to come back. Too many places like this are bought up by big hotel chains and lose their charm.
