WELCOME TO THE HUDSON VALLEY!
Spend a romantic, cozy weekend in front of a warm fireplace, enjoy a book at the lake, or a nap in the hammock. You have found your perfect, private retreat, a place to relax and enjoy the quiet. We are on 18 acres of woodlands, walking trails, pretty cottage gardens, as well as 275' of lake frontage.

We are on a private lake, motor boats are not permitted, allowing you to enjoy kayaking, paddle boating, fishing, or just floating around to your hearts content.
Mallards, beavers, painted turtles, trout & small mouth bass, call this lake home. There are red fox, deer, red tailed hawks & owls, beautiful north eastern birds and eagles.

The Fox Den has a fully equipped kitchen with a full size oven & refrigerator. We also provide coffee, tea, pancake batter, syrup, cooking spices & oils.

A luxurious queen size bed with a lake view, and a private bath. A pergola covered, private patio with a gas grill, overlooking wildflowers and path to the lake. Your privacy is paramount to us (we respect that you are here for some R&R).

Sweet lakefront home
Perfect couple vacation spot. Total privacy at the end of a dirt road. Great decorating touches of the very practical apartment and fully stocked kitchen with pots and pans and cabinet with spices. Bed was very comfortable Two six foot glass doors (separated by a gorgeous stone gas fireplace between them) open up to a partially covered deck with a grill and a fire stove. and a view of a sloping lawn down to the lake. There is a rowboat, a pedal boat and kayaks for your use. Owners, a lovely couple, live on the property if you have any questions. They even sent info on a flowering plant my wife asked about. And Red Hook and Rhinebeck are 10-15 minutes down the road. 5 stars.

Great Place
Property is well maintained. Host is awesome! I was able to make a last minute reservation. The host had the property ready in 1.5 hours. There is a hiking trail and water sports on the property. A great patio to watch birds and view of the lake. I would stay here again.

Fox Den - Hudson Valley
The Fox Den studio was super cozy & super well kept! A great stay for couples. Unfortunately, due to weather, etc. we did not take advantage of many outdoor and lake options offered but instead enjoyed the small local towns and local foods and crafts of the beautiful Hudson Valley. It was out first visit to the region.

Even better than expected
The Fox Den is an ideal location for a romantic getaway for two. My partner and I loved the space. The hosts were communicative and even offered to extend our stay by a night because our arrival was delayed by a day. At the Fox Den you'll find a very clean and well organized space, a beautiful patio, a CLEAN grill, and on-property lake access. We really enjoyed being in the outdoor space and then retiring to the indoor space for some very comfortable Netflix (provided) and Chill. 10/10!

Quiet and scenic retreat
This rental was perfect in every respect. It is located at the end of a private drive and overlooks a serene lake, where it is possible to boat or swim. The unit was immaculate when we arrived, and we were greeted with a bottle of wine and a plate of cookies. The hosts thought of every detail. We had a brief power outage during our visit, and the hosts (who live in the unit above) responded immediately by hooking up a generator. We felt that they were readily available if we needed them for anything. We cooked our meals in the well-stocked kitchen and dined outside on the covered patio overlooking the lake. Restaurants are available in Red Hook or Rhinebeck, which are short drives away. We took scenic hikes along the Hudson in a nearby state park and on the grounds of the Roosevelt home at Hyde Park, about 30 minutes away. We are so grateful for the opportunity to stay here, and we are looking forward to a return visit.

Wonderful hosts seemed to think of everything. All we did was relax: lakeside, patio, chaise lounges, country walking. Get your food supplies before arrival because there is no need to leave the cozy spot!

Wonderful Getaway
My husband and I wanted a short getaway for our anniversary. The Fox Den was just what we wanted. It was tucked away and private, the space was perfect for spending time together. The location was close enough to all of the things we wanted to do in the area. Although it was wonderfully warm, we did not go down to the lake. However, we will almost surely come back during the summer sometime so that we can enjoy all the property has to give. Thank you so much for the perfect getaway.

The problem with giving such a great review is that it will become harder to make a reservation later on. This was one of the best idyllic locations I have been to. Every thing about the Fox Den ,it’s location and amenities was spectacular and well though out by its owners Jeanne and Jim. We had a memorable experience.

Perfect Winter Getaway
The Fox Den was the perfect long weekend getaway for a wintery February vacation. Jeanne and Jim couldn't have made it more welcoming, the gas fireplace was lit and soft decorative lights and fresh greens and flowers welcomed us when we arrived. It was cozy and bright at the same time, with the couch and chair arranged around the fireplace, and two large French doors on either side of the fireplace bringing in beautiful light to the kitchen and sleeping ends of this wonderful studio. The Fox Den is immaculate, and well stocked with coffee, pancake mix, various spices and cooking oils - even some movie time snacks for relaxing in front of the fire. Cooking utensils and pots, pans and even baking pans are available. The bathroom is beautiful and well stocked with soaps and towels. There are two small closets for guest use. The accommodations are very private, you would never know Jeanne and Jim are upstairs unless you reach out to speak to them. The view of the lake is gorgeous, and we look forward to returning in the summer to take advantage of paddling and fishing on the lake and hiking the trails on the 20 acre property. There is a lot to do in the Red Hook and Rhinebeck areas, too, and lots of local dining options if you don't want to cook... though that is a pleasure in this well appointed kitchen! We had a wonderful stay.... we highly recommend the Fox Den!

Perfect relaxing getaway
Not to much was the property beautiful, so was the view! The owners were extremely nice and considerate, they even left out a bottle of wine and some cookies for us! We would love to stay again in the warmer weather when the outdoors could be enjoyed more, but I more than recommend staying here for any couple looking for a nice weekend away!

Perfection
This was an absolutely perfect spot for a weekend hideaway. It was so clean and cozy, with thoughtful details throughout. We went for little walks in the snowy woods and relaxed by the fire. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook some really nice meals. The hosts were super attentive — but it was also quiet and private. Couldn’t have asked for a nicer weekend setting away from the city. Thank you!

Beautiful Stay!
My partner and I stayed here for New Year's Eve, and it was SUCH an incredible, relaxing, and peaceful trip! The lake and surrounding wooded areas were absolutely gorgeous, and we were treated to seeing all kinds of wonderful birds - including a squad of wild turkeys, and a red-tailed hawk! We had such a good time relaxing in front of the fire, sitting on the outdoor deck, and just enjoying the get away. If you're thinking about booking a stay here - do it! You will love it!

Cozy place that had everything we needed for a 3 night get away. The lake afforded a great view of the night skies...perfect for the peak of the Geminid meteor shower in December. Very private, quiet. Convenient location to local hikes, observation tower of Hudson River, Mills Mansion and town of Rhinebeck.

Heaven on earth
This place is simply the best. You are greeted with delicious homemade cookies and a bottle of wine with a hand-written welcome note. Jeanne and Jim live above the Fox Den but the room is soundproofed and you can’t hear a thing, it truly is like your own little piece of heaven. Lake House Retreat
The Fox Den is simply divine! The space is perfect for a solo traveler or couple. Everything you need is there and you can't beat the views of the lake. Perfect Getaway
We can’t say enough about Jeanne, Jim and the great cabin they’ve created. Fox Den was perfect for our anniversary weekend in the Hudson Valley. Although it’s attached to their house, the owners offer complete privacy unless you request help (and then they are more than happy to assist). We enjoyed a gorgeous view of the lake and woods on our secluded patio, sharing it only with the adorable chipmunks running around. The chimenea makes it cozy on cool nights. There are 2 kayaks, a rowboat and a paddleboat available to explore the lake. The inside is cozy too, with a gas fireplace facing the sofa and a very comfortable bed. The bed nook and kitchen both have great views through the sliding doors. The patio pergola has a clear cover, so we were able to leave a door open and listen to the rain during the one wet night. Jim and Jean have thoughtfully attended to every detail. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking, and some spices and food items are provided. (The Crackerjacks were much appreciated). They have designed the cabin to be easy to use, whether you are grilling, cooking in the kitchen or just having a glass of wine with a book. The location is also convenient. Once you’ve mastered the country road, it’s an easy drive to Red Hook or Rhinebeck for restaurants and shopping. Milea Estate Vineyard was nearby and a great excursion too. Fox Den is a perfect retreat – Thank you Jeanne & Jim!

Slice of Heaven
We absolutely loved our time at the Fox Den! It was the perfect spot for our romantic getaway!! The Den is cozy, clean and well decorated plus included everything we needed during our long stay. It's obvious Jeanne & Jim care about their guests and pay attention to the small details that make your stay so memorable. We loved spending most of our time on the spacious deck with a great view of the lake. We liked the nature trail and thoroughly enjoyed using the kayaks and paddle boat multiple times on the beautiful clear lake. We enjoyed ourselves so much and we cannot wait to come back to this little slice of heaven on earth
