It is understood that check in is always 4pm. Due to circumstances we arrived at 1:20pm. The front desk staff was very polite and professional and stated that the room was ready. If we wanted to check in the few hours earlier, there would be an additional $50 “early check in fee”. He then stated that he would draft the paper needed for our car parking. I replied we did not have a car. I wanted to trade the free parking for 2.5hr earlier check in. He politely stated no.
For $279 the only night we were staying there,19 hours of room time for that money, if our room is ready, why can’t we access it instead of it sitting there empty. I understand a cost of a late check out is requested, that flexes with the room cleaning. But our room sat empty. We walked our luggage around for 2.5 hours because that extra free was not in the budget.
Our bed linen had a solid yellow stain that should not have been there from a prior room tenant Walking bare feet in the room resulted in the bottom of my feet turning black = black water in the shower. Cigarette butt’s littered the ground by the main entrance because the “butt collector” was filled to capacity so smokers just tossed them on the ground. Weeds were also growing around the property and some appeared to be there for a while as they were not tiny.
Congratulations Tybee Hotel, my room sat empty for those 2.5 hours while we sat around the property that needs upkeep. My next visit and $ will be to a neighboring property.
