Have stayed in many La Quintas and they are typically "fine". The San Antonio Airport La Quinta was very poor by comparison. It was dirty and rundown. A sign at the desk said "no maid service", but apparently that also means that they never clean the hallways which were badly stained and filthy. Busted out fixtures in the elevators. Dangling, broken fixtures and shoddy repairs in the room. No idea what someone used to "clean" the tv screen, but you could barely see through it. Upon check-in, they gave me the wrong room (2x) only to call me back to the counter and reassign the room. This was at 11pm -- I was tired, and the front desk people did not appear to know what they were doing. The people checking in next to me had had their reservation cancelled without their knowledge. Also, the 'free airport shuttle' stops running at 10:30pm, so expect a $20 cab ride to get you the 2 miles from the airport. Very disappointed overall. No, I would not recommend this place.
