Unhappy with the service
I have been stayed at this hotel several times. All are good, except this time they overcharged me 1 person’s breakfast for the respective 2 days. I would not be known if I did not ask for the hardcopy receipt at the checkout. They did not want to remove the fees after checking their paper records instead they want to double check with their cafe and make the revised afterward. On the same day, they removed only one, the other one would take some time to process. Almost a week past, no further notice that have been received which makes me very unhappy about it.

Staff was not engaging, I got a couple toiletries things they charged to the room and took my cash never acknowledge when asked about the charges never gave a receipt for anything including the final stay. Breakfast was nice and confident for our needs

The landscaping with flowers is lovely, the restaurant is consistently delicious, and the shared spaces are very clean and well-designed. The front desk staff (especially Lauryn) went above and beyond to help us keep our young kids entertained while we were spending in the lobby - like offering crayons and activity sheets and doing little magic tricks with automatic doors. The beds are super comfortable too. However, we did have to call down a couple of times to get extra towels (we were only supplied with two) and to get some trash removed. Also, our room could have used a deep clean and a little maintenance TLC (cobwebs in the corners of the ceiling, some wallpaper peeling/sagging in the bathroom and bedroom, white stains on the wall above one of the beds). However, this was unusual compared to past recent visits and hope just a fluke.

Staff was very nice — front desk, housekeeping, and breakfast. The hotel is right on the property of SUNY Stony Brook, so it’s very convenient. The SUNY Stony Brook website said there was a discount for prospective students who signed up for the tour…. However, there was no prompt for the code during the Expedia reservation process. And the front desk people at the hotel didn’t know what I was talking about. The walk-up-and-order breakfast was nice, but very expensive. I would’ve preferred a cheap, or free, continental breakfast — with the walk-up-grill as an option if you wanted to pay through the nose for it. This was the only option for breakfast — unless you drove into town to hunt and gather. But the appeal of the hotel was that it was right there on the campus. I was feeling a little swindled. But, overall, an acceptable stay.

Good communication, clean, nice staff - bartender and wait staff for breakfast were outstanding. Breakfast was great and a good value. Would definitely stay again. The hotel has the feel of a place that is well run with polite and helpful employees.

Stayed for a couple of days while taking my comprehensive exams. There was some construction going on in the lobby, but it was never loud or anything. Still a great place to stay (with great staff) if you're on campus and need a room. I'm sure it'll be even better once the construction/upgrades are finished.

The room was unbearably HOT- 78 when we checked in and even after we turned the heat down it would only go down to 73. We had it set at 65. The room was hot but there was NO HOT WATER. I told the front desk and nothing was done. The coffee in the lobby was only out one time- the day we left. No coffee throughout the day like other hotels. Customer service was terrible. The guy who checked us in was so rude. There was construction going on that we could hear in our room. I would never stay there again. We loved Stony Brook- hated this hotel.
