What a beautiful home! It was the perfect place blissfully positioned on a breathtaking piece of property. There’s not one thing that wasn’t five star. Hopefully the owner doesn’t ever sell this home as we WILL most definitely be back next year!!! Unbelievable!! ❤️🙏

One of our favorite trips
The only downside of our trip was not being able to stay longer! The property was incredible with one of the most beautiful views we’ve ever seen. The amenities could not have been better—from the heated pool, to the hot tub, to the beach…there was a place for everyone to enjoy with a large group. You cannot beat the expansive private beach and gorgeous sunsets. I immediately looked up potential dates for returning next year after our trip ended. It was truly special and I hope to be back here one day!

Simply Amazing!
If you are looking for a place to stay in Saugatuck or the surrounding area, stop looking now and book this property! The kitchen is wonderful and stocked with anything you would need for your stay, however, I would recommend that you have Chef Carmen prepare meals for you when you visit. She is exceptionally talented and super nice too! The swimming pool, hot tub, private beach with fire pit, pool table, ping pong table, and house all provide ample entertainment for your stay. If you would rather take in the view of the Kalamazoo River and Lake Michigan, try any window or seat in the house, grab a glass of wine and prepare to be amazed. Plenty of covered porches for some shade as you enjoy the panoramic views and feel the cool Michigan breeze. I have booked many VRBO’s and Andrea was the most responsive host I have communicated with. Finally, take some time to enjoy a ride on the yacht with Captain Chuck. The yacht is perfect and Chuck kept us in good company and was a fountain of knowledge about the area as we floated by. I hope we make it back again to see Saugatuck…Petrichor was so perfect we didn’t want to leave! If you do love to explore and can get yourself to leave the property, the surrounding towns are quaint and beautiful with plenty of activity and the nearby state parks provide hiking trails for outdoor fun. One criticism is…nope, can’t come up with one. Make the memories! Book the Petrichor!

Ideal Lake Michigan Getaway
This was our second year staying in the home and we came back for a reason! There is no better spot to enjoy Lake Michigan, boats and the Saugatuck/Douglas area than this property. The pool was a LOVELY addition this year that we took full advantage of. The beach, sunsets and views are second-to-none. Thank you for another wonderful week on Lake MI!

Amazing & relaxing getaway
The house and property were amazing. The views were immaculate and the sandy beach (including the bon fire on the beach) was great. Andrea, the property manager, was quick to respond and receptive to any issue or questions that we had. There was a small situation that arose during our stay and Andrea was on top of it, going above and beyond; offering us a free yacht cruise and a free stay at her additional lake house. Would definitely return!

Awesome house with amazing views!
We spent 3 nights at this property and it was amazing. Can't ask for more! The views are great from any corner of this house! Everything was clean and super organized! Definitely will come back!

Great sunset!
Beautiful, serene location. Magnificent views of Lake Michigan and the Saugatuck channel. Very spacious home with all the amenities. Hard to imagine ever staying anywhere else on Lake Michigan. Looking forward to our next time!

Perfection
This is my third time renting this house, and my first time writing a review. I have rented it once in the summer, and twice in the winter. First was for a shared birthday week with my parents, kids, and siblings. We all agreed it was the best vacation week ever, due to the privacy and being surrounded by nature at a seriously spectacular home. We enjoyed walking the beach, splashing around, collecting some driftwood, and sitting just to watch the waves and the boats. The pictures do not do it justice. Having rented this now twice in the “off season” .... It is officially my favorite time to be there. The snow and ever-changing scenery of the lake, no boats, no swimming, just walks around the sprawling property while encountering deer, bunnies, and seeing eagles on the trees on the other side of the channel. We brought our cross-country skis, snowshoes, made snow angels, and my teenager and her friend brought plastic sleds, we all felt like we were at a private ski resort. Then fireplace and hot chocolate while grandma and grandpa entertained us on the grand piano, lol. We had room for everyone, without feeling on top of each other, which was my biggest concern. I was doing remote work the entire time, so the strong Wi-Fi was greatly appreciated. My teenager was most happy with me having to call on the phone to find her, due to the size of the place. The outdoor hot tub in winter watching the stars is a memory for the books.

Living the Dream!
We were enthralled, enchanted and ecstasized with our stay at Petrichor. Yes, it was the dead of winter but the magnificent splendor was not lost nor less charming. The proprietor leaves no stone unturned in making guests feel comfortable and pampered. None of the five star hotels we've stayed at the world over provided anywhere near the amenities we experienced at Petrichor. Yet, we understand there's a pool and other goodies planned for this paradise. Summer cannot come soon enough! While perusing downtown Saugatuck, a few shopkeepers inquired of our lodging. We received a few "oohs" and "aahs" from them when answering, boastfully, we might add. Apparently, Petrichor is considered the preeminent accommodation by the locals. We cannot recommend any further or more highly our stay at Petrichor. You only live once.

Iconic beach house
Petrichor Beach House in Saugatuck, MI is iconic. Unique and timeless architecture placed in the most ideal natural location of West Michigan's Lake Michigan shoreline. Simply beautiful, peaceful, expansive, and private, yet not too secluded from all that Saugatuck has to offer. Truly a one of a kind estate that can be enjoyed and appreciated by many through its new rental opportunity. We are so glad to have had the opportunity! Loved it! We want to do it again!

Fabulous location & home
We had an amazing stay and enjoyed walks on the sandy beach and amazing sunsets. The location is unique and private with unbeatable views of Lake Michigan and the channel. Lots of gathering areas and space indoors as well as a large lakeside deck that is perfect for sunset watching or just listening to the waves. A beautiful retreat and would highly recommend!

A Dream Come True
The sense that I was transported to a magical place was evident from the moment the gate opened and I drove through a most beautiful scenic road that ended with a grand and fantastical house. The 360 degree views are mind-blowing. I went to bed after a shimmering sunset on Lake Michigan and woke up to a gorgeous sunrise creeping behind the dunes and pines. Every amenity imaginable was available at my disposal. I've stayed at many luxury lodgings the world over and to say Petrichor is the best, is an understatement. Though I was in town for a short stay, leaving this oasis was akin to my carriage turning into a pumpkin. I will definitely return but not alone and very likely for a longer visit.

Saugatuck House
We had an outstanding time during our week at the house. The view from the house and the property is absolutely gorgeous. In fact, it was so amazing, that no one wanted to leave the house! There is plenty of space and privacy, a great kitchen, game room, and huge deck space. The private beach was quiet and private. Overall, a fantastic vacation.

Simply the best view and Lake access
We have stayed at countless vacation rentals on the lake shore in Saugatuck/Douglas/Holland and this propert wins the prize for views and lake access. No big dune to walk down - the private beach is mere steps from the back porch. Owner was extremely responsive and took care of the few minor issues we experienced - none worth noting here. We look forward to returning!

Beautiful Location
The location is incredible and the property is beautiful. You cannot beat the beach access, the dune grass, etc....The house was not exactly as we hoped for the price. Some of the home is dated--the master bath especially. The owners are working on all of this so I would expect it to be great in the future. There were also very few screens in the windows (there are a ton of windows) so we could not open some of them--gave the house an unfinished feel. There is a lot of technology (and cameras) in the house so random beeps throughout the night would occur. Additionally, the place was not as rent ready as we hoped as the owner left a decent amount of stuff out--for instance, in the gallery, there were a ton of items stored (furniture), the office had drills and screws sitting out and lots of unplugged computer gear. There were a few too many visitors (workers and owner) initially but once we told the owner we preferred to be left alone, they made sure no one else came by. No guest came by unannounced but we were told no one would come inside and that did not turn out to be the case. Overall, this is a great spot for an older family. The views in the main house are absolutely one of a kind. There are also great appliances and all the stuff you need throughout the house. Younger kids are not ideal for the house as the main house has only 3 bedrooms. As our family ages, we would consider this property again. The beach and views are just too great.

Thank you, Chris for your constructive remarks. We will work on most although I’m not sure about updating the master as it’s all “retro” marble on the walls and floors etc but we did just put in a new heated Toto bidet toilet and new LED lights. The owners closet that was messy was supposed to have been locked. Our builder lost both of his parents and was in California for weeks before this rental season. Believe me, we will continue to improve. We serviced both backup generators, put in a new second well, got lights that have sensors near any stairs, made it a smart home, painted a few rooms, added a second refrigerator, freezer in the main home, got many new mattresses and bedding, and hired professional manager bit realize it’s an ongoing process. We just closed on the home and will continue to make more improvements after the summer remtal season. Thanks for staying.

Great views
The house has wonderful views of the lake and river. It’s a easy drive to downtown Saugatuck with its great restaurants and shops. House needs a little maintenance ie deck. Also, would suggest some declutering of kitchen and closets.

2 Beautiful Homes on a Gorgeous Beach

A slice of heaven
Without question, a bucket list item to check off your list. We are very discriminating renters and we were blown away. The location, the house, the hosts far exceeded anything that can be translated on VRBO. A breath taking experience that our family will remember for a life time. Nothing more perfect in Michigan!
To start off, the pictures online are great but sometimes better than when you actually see the property. This is not the case with this property. The pictures do not do it justice. This is a one of a kind home in a one of a kind location. We had our kids and two grandkids with us and more than enough room. The main house is very large and can accommodate plenty of family. The kitchen area is tremendous and allows for everyone to join in on whatever you're cooking. There is plenty of outside decking/patio area with every location a breath-taking view. The guest house is also well appointed and cozy. There is good WIFI to get work done or watch TV. The beach area is private and spectacular, we had a bonfire on the beach most evenings to watch some of the most beautiful sunsets in Michigan. We also were able to catch so many fish right on the pier fishing the Kalamazoo River. My grandkids were catching fish as soon as they put their lines in the water. We have stayed in many upper-scale homes and this one is very special and will not disappoint. Overall, do not miss this property for an unforgettable stay. The only negative about this place was having to leave it. Property managers were very accommodating and responsive too, thank you!
