Expedia.com Earns Good Housekeeping Website Certification Seal
Expedia Becomes First Online Travel Site to Receive Coveted Recognition
Bellevue, Wash. – September 18, 2003 – Expedia.com®, the world’s leading online travel service, today became the first travel website to receive the prestigious Good Housekeeping Website Certification Seal. Like the trusted and time-honored Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval for consumer products, the Good Housekeeping Website Certification Seal is awarded to websites that meet Good Housekeeping’s rigorous standards for consumer protection and quality assurance.
“Good Housekeeping performed an independent review of Expedia.com and validated not only the quality and usability of the site, but also the integrity of the travel services Expedia® provides,” John Kupsch, Technical Director Good Housekeeping Institute. “When consumers see the Good Housekeeping Website Certification Seal on the Expedia.com website, they can trust Expedia offers superior travel services online and the highest quality and most secure purchasing experience.”
Good Housekeeping created the Website Certification Seal to help guide consumers to websites that provide useful and trustworthy information, are easy to navigate, and have clearly defined security and privacy policies. The high standards of Good Housekeeping’s review process, and the trust placed in the Good Housekeeping Seal, gives websites with the Good Housekeeping Website Certification Seal a mark of distinction. In fact, according to a Roper Starch Worldwide Study (March 1999), 7 out of 10 (72%) consumers surveyed said they are more likely to purchase a product that carries the Good Housekeeping Seal than a similar product that does not.
“We are pleased to earn the seal of approval from one of America’s most trusted consumer advocates,” said Teri Franklin, product manager for Expedia.com. “We have a relentless focus on giving our customers the best possible travel shopping and booking experience, and we are thrilled to see our efforts recognized.”
