The Platzl Hotel is a well managed, quality hotel. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms and public areas are very clean and comfortable. The location in the heart of the old town center is ideal for tourists of Munich. The only caveat is that it is directly next door to the Hofbrauhaus beer hall, where "spirited" noisy revelers pour out late in the evening, singing and shouting. The rooms of the Platzl have double paned vacuum glass windows which, when closed, cut the noise down significantly, but not enough. Our room was on the street adjacent to the Hofbrauhaus, and we had to sleep with the windows shut and use earplugs. I highly recommend this hotel, but you should insist on a quiet room on the opposite side from the Hofbrauhaus beer hall.

I booked this hotel last minute as our previous accommodation fell through and I didn't want to spend a fortune on a hotel. This hotel had a deal on a different website so had a relatively good price considering other options and the location and proximity to Hauptbahnhof (Main train station).
We had no problem finding it (provided you come out at the right exit from the metro and that way it was a less then 5 min walk from there or you can also take the tram for 1 stop.
The hotel was good, I've got nothing to complain about (we didn't have breakfast so can't comment on that). Staff friendly and helpful both at check in and check out. And as mentioned before, location was just great, everything within walking distance so we were very happy with everything all together. Even the Wifi worked in our room on the 1st floor once I connected (using the free service option! )

"Great hotel with fantastic location with one issue"
Hotel is great and clean. Very modern on the inside and the location is fantastic. The parking is expensive if you have to park in the garage up to 23 Euros a day. The issue we had was that the toilet was recessed and had no room on the sides. Making it pretty much impossible to use comfortably. Very odd that our bathroom had two sinks and almost no room for a toilet. The shower was also very small and Americans may find both almost unusable. Other than that the staff and hotel is very nice and I have nothing bad to say.

Remnants of the old city walls remain, as well as notable landmarks including the famed Rathaus-Glockenspiel and the towering Frauenkirche. Thirsty?
