Pleasant hotelPosted Jul 18, 2014
Pros: The staff , and the beach.
Cons: Dining areas could have some air conditioning - it would be more comfortable.
Location: Nice location, but we didn't do much since our stay was so short.
Had a nice time at the Half Moon. It's a lovely place, with a nice staff. The beach is very nice also.

Great Resort, on the oceanPosted Jul 16, 2014
Pros: The property offers a variety of rooms and views
Location: The resort is near the airport, shopping, on a major through-way for visiting other parts of the island.
The Half Moon Hotel and Resort is very accommodating to their guest. The property is very well kept, rooms are above average, meals are great. The staff are very friendly. I've often pass by this resort on other visits, no longer!

Everything is to spread out.Posted Jul 13, 2014
Pros: Clean and friendly.
Cons: Food taste.
Location: No entertainment other than piano playing in the early evenings.
Food was not very good and over priced. There was no original Jamaica food, like fish and curry goat. However, the drinks were good and the breakfast was good. Deserts were horrible.

Beautiful, relaxing and peaceful.Posted Jul 7, 2014
Traveled all over Jamaica and this by far was the most peaceful place. Very elegant, but not snooty...relaxing, but refreshing. Laid back atmosphere and a spa to die for. There is an old school style (1954 est), picturesque setting for wedding ( 2 while we were there). Rent a golf cart or bike - it's 400 acres of beauty. Meal plan is a good idea...kinda pricey. Must try mangocolada w coconut rum and the coconut snapper.

Wonderful old school property on the beachPosted Mar 14, 2014
Wonderful resort with British colonial feel, no building taller than 2 stories on the beach and the vast majority of rooms have ocean views and their own beach access. Staff were super friendly and always suggesting activities. The dolphin encounter is a must. Snorkeling and horseback riding were also great activities. They had something for our whole family of four with two kids aged 5 and 8. They had a great time at a half day of camp while we hit the spa.

Perfect weekend getawayPosted Feb 25, 2014
Pros: Everything. The view when you first walk in is breathtaking and it just gets better from there. The beach at the West Villas is the best.
Cons: nothing. Service top rate.
Location: We never wanted to leave so we didn't. We didn't need to. only 10 minutes to the airport!
We were upgraded to an Oceanfront Suite. Did not understand the gravity of our upgrade until we were lead to a beautiful oceanfront suite with a private patio that looked over the ocean. Ground level!!!!! The room was beautiful, clean and very comfortable. We've traveled a lot and we both agreed, this was by far the best place we have ever stayed. Our room had the most beautiful view and set up. We had two sets of french doors to open up and just let in all the sounds and sights. The staff was so helpful and very nice. The food was very good and yes - expensive. But, was expensive all over Jamaica, especially the airport. The mixed drinks were great and good wine selection. The resort is so beautiful and just heaven. We didn't want to leave. I wasn't expecting how family friendly and how much there was to do at the resort. We are returning next summer with our children. We go every year to Seaside, Florida but not anymore. We have found our place! It reminded us of The Cloisters on Sea Island Georgia. Just on a beautiful Caribbean Island. The sunset and sunrises were just awesome. The complimentary coffee bar set up in morning had the best coffee. Even the cream tasted better. Can not wait to go back.

Beautiful hotel that is really oceanfrontPosted Jan 19, 2014
Pros: The rooms were very comfortable. The beach was good.
Cons: There needs to be more variety in the nearby shopping village. I wish the room had a refrigerator.
Spending a few days at the Halfmoon was relaxing. I would visit halfmoon again.

Relaxing, peaceful luxury on the beachPosted Dec 31, 2013
Pros: Location, lush grounds, intimate beaches, good restaurants and wonderful staff!
Cons: As it mostly caters to all-inclusive guests (which we weren't), we found the prices to be overall too high.
Location: Close to airport and Montego Bay. We enjoyed a days outing to Dunn River Falls, Ocho Rios and rafting down the Martha Brae River.
We certainly do not regret our spontaneous pre-Christmas booking for a short family holiday at Half Moon. We had a wonderful stay, and we all fell in love with Jamaica - especially the friendly and welcoming Jamaicans. We upgraded to the Hibiscus suites on arrival, and although quite a jump in price, was so worth it! Amazing views and relaxing privacy.

A relaxing stay at the Half MoonPosted Dec 14, 2013
Pros: The top-notch service, the attention to detail, and the excellent offerings at the resort restaurants, and horseback riding and tennis.
Cons: Just one minor thing--resort employees from the spa inadvertently woke us up at the beach to pitch their programs. This wasn't needed.
Location: The location was excellent--close to the MBJ airport, and with more than enough to do on site. We didn't feel the need to go off-site to do things.
This was our first time staying at the Half Moon, and our second time vacationing in Jamaica. We were impressed with every aspect of service at the Half Moon. The staff was friendly and helpful; food and beverages were excellent, and service, overall, was top-notch. We enjoyed having bicycles to ride around the expansive resort property, and our room, just steps from a very nice beach, was comfortable and clean. We look forward to returning to Half Moon in the future for another special Jamaica getaway!
