Right by the beach, safe location near shops and restaurants, nice staff, great breakfast. Hotel serves mix of business and tourists. They have a great beach service which means free towels beds and parasols on ipanema - handy. Only thing is it is a 3 star and some parts of the hotel are a little dishevelled. However thoroughly enjoyed my stay

Mould and damp in every room

Was shown 3 different rooms, all on different floors, after I complained about the incredibly strong smell of damp in the room. The bellboys said they could smell it and it was all over the hotel but reception just kept saying "how strange" which is complete rubbish as the net curtain over the window in all 3 rooms was covered in black mould and the paint on the walls is bubbling all over the place. That being said, I kept the windows open all day when I was out and the air con on to blow it through and it was just about bearable. The hotel is in a great location, and the breakfast was lovely.... but I just don't know how they can operate with mould in all of the rooms.

Big mistake

This is by far one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed at. From the front desk staff to the condition if the room, everything seemed like a nightmare. The hotel couldn't even locate my reservation in the system. Although we're in 2014, they actually required a confirmation number or print out of the confirmation in order to find my reservation in the system - really?! The overall look / decor of the hotel and room was just old - not old fashioned but just plain old and not well kept. The room was dark, very old and looked dirty - I actually couldn't get myself to walk bare feet around the room given the look and smell of the carpet. All in all, this hotel is way overpriced for what it is. The only thing it has going for it is the location but that's it. If this is how Rio thinks it's ready to host the World Cup or even the 2016 Olympics, we're all in for a very unpleasant surprise.

The service is bad ( common In Rio) and the room was not very clean. It is well located in the Ipanema area. I do not recommend and I will never stay here again

Hotel is well located for beach and lagoon and also many bars and restaurants nearby. Rooftop breakfast was especially pleasant.

I have never seen such a dramatic difference in one hotel. Standard room floors are like a time warp into the 70's. Everything was old and worn from the money you get off the elevator. But on other renovated floors, it was modern and clean. Don't stay here unless they start showing pictures of the bathroom or your paying for an upgraded room. I have seen hostels more upgraded. Actually I wish I stayed at a hostel and saved $200!!

Location: fantastic!!!
A standard room is a room that has not been renovated since the 1970's. The room was not clean, hair in the bedsheets, shower floor stained, dirty hand prints on the walls. It's in a great location.

Pros: breakfast and the attention
Cons: some things that I miss at the rooms
Location: very well located
excellent staff and and so kind waiters. Rooms are compfortable but not enough spase. There is not ice-maker in the floor (but you have frigo at any room....) Out side pool at 23rd. floor = in case of rain: "no way Jose"

This was a huge disapointement. Very expensive, didn't have WiFi working for more than 3 days, and didn't inform guests that there was construction work ongoing, starting from 7 AM. Staff is friendly but not professional. Tries hard to be a luxe hotel, but fails completely.

if you have a plan to stay in Rio De Janeiro, use this hotel a little bit outdated, but safe, clean. morning buffet: large selection of cheese, juice, bread.
