Hotel was grand in appearance and in excellent grounds. The reception and the bar were also very nice and well kept.
The mews room we stayed in was disappointing. Hair left in the bathroom, dirty glasses and just felt "cheap". It was ok but for the price we were expecting a lot more.
Service was pretty poor in every way. Ridiculously slow to check us in. We arrived dead on our check in time of 3 pm, yet were told that already there were no available tables for the restaurant, despite being advised to book upon arrival.
We ended up eating in the bar, which although the food was good, took over an hour to arrive and had to constantly chase up service for drinks too. The waitress was friendly and doing her best, but it was just woefully slow.
Breakfast the next morning we were "greeted" by the most unhappy person we've ever met. Clearly begrudged being there and actually serving or helping, so much so that even another guest commented to us how aggressive and grumpy she was. There were also dirty plates left out on the side and no butter that we could see (we were genuinely too scared to ask the waitress for any...)
Food itself was good though.
Check out, as per the rest of the stay was slow. Paid the food bill and left.
Upon checking my bank when I arrived home, Eastwell had charged my card for the room without informing me, and despite the fact I'd paid via Expedia.
After no answer to the phone for 15 mins, I emailed and spoke to a quite rude person. Refunded eventually.
