Major work.

Posted Oct 15, 2017
Just came back, it’s mid October. The hotel is undergoing a major renovation. The pool was closed for two days of our five days stay. Restaurants are temporarily closed for the renovation. Noisy work is going on with paint smell everywhere. Workmen around the pool and in the garden spreading the loan. Noisy sounds of machinery of iron work. Upon reservation last June we were never told about the major work in the hotel. When retrieving the booking before going there was a note about the work but the note said it would end by the end of September. Too much paid for the unpleasant stay. Should have been 50% off for for such type of stay. The staff were pleasant and tried to do what they could.

Very Nice Hotel with Relaxing Atmosphere

Posted Oct 10, 2017
My wife, daughter, and I enjoyed staying in this hotel during our first trip to Phuket. We definitely plan to return! The room was comfortable and clean, the staff was very kind and attentive to requests, and the food at the hotel was good. The hotel was completing renovations when we were there, which I am sure will only add to the quality of stay in the future.

Nice resort but better options

Posted Sep 22, 2017
Phuket has so many resort options. I've stayed at a few and was least impressed with the Dusit. When you're comparing one expensive resort to another it's often hard to differentiate. But, with the Dusit, it's the little things. The breakfast buffet offers a wide selection for western and Asian guests, but the food wasn't that good, or fresh. In the Italian restaurant, the food was ok, but not great. Not so much of a big deal except that you are paying resort prices that rival NYC. You can easily go out in town and eat for a fraction of the cost. There is a beautiful beach but they don't keep chairs or umbrellas out there. If you want to sit on the beach you have to drag your own chair across the lawn and onto the beach. The bottom line is that The Dusit is a nice resort but it will not go above and beyond your expectations.

Not as advertised

Posted Sep 6, 2017
I had no idea the property was going through renovations. The entire pool area was closed off and that was the main reason I chose this location. There was almost nothing open on the property. The Laguna Cafe was only choice daily for each meal (There was one other Italian option for dinner). This wasn't a true reflection of what I read when I was researching because there were several restaurants advertised on the site. The other restaurants were all closed. I ordered breakfast one morning and there was hair in between my pancakes. They replaced it after I notified them. My last day there, there was a power outage for a few hours due to the renovations. The beach was really nice and clean. The staff was very accommodating despite the very subpar conditions of the resort. This was my first time at a Dusit property and my first time in Thailand. I was very unhappy with my stay due to the fact that I expect way more from a 5-star resort.

Renovation - Not a pleasing experience

Posted Jul 16, 2017
Having spent money to book a 5 star hotel did not give us the real worth for money. Hotel was undergoing renovation which we were not aware and hence no swimming pool access. Beach access was also restricted. Rooms looked very old. Hotel could have stepped in and provided additional perks like lunch/dinner vouchers or additional SPA vouchers. The hotel looked very old from my point of view.

Dear Guest Thanks a lot for your feedback. As you mentioned that the resort looked very old and hence we planned the renovation to enhance our guest experience and regarding the renovation all online channels are updated with the announcement which mentions about the time like of the renovation in the resort. We do have arrangement of alternative pool in the nearby resort which is just 3 min walk through the beach and it free of charge for our guest. I am sure in your next visit you would find a fresh and upgraded resort. Regards Izhar Mohsin

Restful retreat

Posted Jun 8, 2017
The club room was facing the ocean and is so comfortable to laze on the beach chairs just outside the room. Staff were all friendly and welcoming, making the whole stay very pleasant. We stayed in the resort for the whole day, only leaving for dinner outside as there are more options.
