An exquisite romantic gite, ideal for couples. 10% off Brittany ferries

Maison de LillI is situated in lower Normandy one and half hours drive south of Caen. Get away from it all and simply relax in this tranquil setting surrounded by fields, or take advantage of the many activities and sites to see in the local area. The gite has a spacious feel about it and is divided onto two levels. The ground floor consists of a lounge with wood burner, TV with English and French channels, DVD& CD player, a fully equipped kitchen and bathroom with bath and shower. Wooden stairs lead up to a bedroom which comprises of 5 foot bed with a very comfortable mattress. Additional electric heating throughout. Private driveway and secluded garden with table and chairs for alfresco dining and deck chairs to watch the sun go down. Portable BBQ. You are welcomed with a bottle of red wine and chocolates and homemade jam made from local berries.

There are lovely walks locally as well as great cycling opportunities. In our Village of Barenton, you can follow the disused converted railway line for miles in both directions, stopping for lunch and well earned rest. Walk into Barenton for your fresh baguettes or drive 10- 15 minutes into the local town of Mortain. This town has a large outdoor swimming pool (seasonal). Your trip would not be complete without a visit to the wonderful scenic Petite and Grand falls or Petite Chapelle (small chapel) housing an American war monument with panoramic views stretching for miles. Mortain also has a disused monastery which you can visit, this was one of the last working ones in France. Other places of interest include Mont St Michel approximately 1 and 1/4 hours drive away. Normandy is famous for its beeches and war Museums. Pay a visit to Bagnoles-de-l-orne, a delightful and only thermal spa in the whole of Northwest France. There is so much to do and see in the area such as the famous Normandy beaches, Bayeux tapestry, Domfront, Saint- Malo, Dinan, the Camembert factory, the Abbey and weekly traditional French market at saint-Hilaire, Vide-Graniers/Brocantes markets to pick a bargain. Alternatively, stay in and totally relax, read a book by the cosy wood burner or sunbath in a very private garden. Purchase the most delicious organic chicken eggs locally from our friends neighboring farmers.
If you wish to travel with friends, why not consider it's sister gite Maison de Grace (ref; 6907475) This has a double four poster bed.
We can offer you a 10% discount on Brittany ferry crossings using ref: F01T2C
No pets/smoking.

Peacefull and cosy
Karen's cottage is a wonderful place to really get away from it all. The cottage is tastefully decorated and fully equipped. It is very private with a view of a meadow with cows. The only sound we heard was the buzzing of the bees. Karen is a nice hostess, responds quickly and accurately. Moreover, so is also very nice. In short, we recommend this cottage to everyone. And it could just be that we ourselves come to stay here again

Wonderful stay at this charming little gite.
We had a wonderful weeks stay at this charming little gite. The location offered complete relaxation and peace and quiet with the lovely cows as your neighbours! A great place to explore the rural country side. Including lovely visits to the local towns of Domfront, Avranches, Ducey and the village of Lassy-les-Chateaux which has a wonderful Chateau worth a visit. About an hours drive you reach more tourist attractions including St Michel and the D-Day beaches. Karen was a fantastic host and provided us with a lovely warm welcome ensuring we had everything we needed. We will be recommending to family and friends. Thank you for a wonderful stay! Idyllic setting for a beautiful Gite which Karen has clearly spent a lot of time and effort on. Everything we needed was there and we had a lovely relaxing week. Well deserved five star review - would definitely recommend this place.

Lovely gite, cosy, clean and in a peaceful, rural setting.
We needed somewhere central to the area we were viewing properties in and this fitted the bill perfectly. It was pretty, clean and had everything we needed, we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to friends and relatives.

Completely lived up to expectations. And more!
Nestled in the hills between Barenton and Mortain, the Maison de Lilli is the prefect antidote to modern living. Modern enough to be comfortable, furnished in some finds at the local markets, the eclectic mix of styles draws you in. With cows at the back of the gite and goats and sheep at the front, you need never worry about noisy neighbours! Having told the owner that we were coming over for our 20th wedding anniversary, she upped the romance. With red rose petals on the bed and a heart-shaped cake made by her daughter, our holiday started extremely well. Within ten minutes of arriving, the bottle of red wine kindly left by Karen was open and we were sitting in the garden admiring the view. This is the perfect place for days out. You are always within an hour of somewhere interesting. My particular favourite was Domfront, the medieval town. A fascinating place and the packed brasserie in which we had lunch could just as easily have been serving people hundreds of years ago. You will not be disappointed if you go to stay at this property.

Wow! That was our reaction when we pulled into the drive of Maison de Lillie.
The gite is a typically chic French country cottage but with all the luxury you would find at the more expensive properties. Plenty of relaxing walks, restaurants nearby, and not far from the coast either. We will definitely be booking again later in the year to explore more. We were a little too early in the year to enjoy the lovely private garden and to fire up the BBQ (next time ). The welcoming bottle of wine went down a treat after our journey. Thank you very much. We will return.

Fantastic French experince!
Our friends booked this for us last minute. They stayed in its sister gite (6907475) a stones throw away. We wanted to surprise our partners for Valentines! Our gite was more than we could have ever expected. I understand the complimentary bottle of wine and chocolates are standard, not just for Cupid's day, what a lovely touch. The gite was extremely clean with some lovely pieces of furniture. It was mild for February but we couldn't resist lighting the cosy wood-burning stove. The owners description totally matched our expectation. There are some great walks, we enjoyed going into Barenton and walking along the disused railway line, the area is beautiful. It was great to be with our friends and yet not on top of each other. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Lovely stay
The house was lovely and had everything I needed. Even during a rainy week, it was okay to stay inside a lot. There are two lovely towns on 5 approximately 10 min drive from the house and the coast is reachable in 1,5 hour drive. There are different hikes not too far away and there are nice markets and brocantes in some close by towns. Karen was very nice and gave some tips on nice things to visit. All in all I had an amazing holiday.

So british !
