It consists of three extraordinary hand-crafted wood, island cabin-style houses on an estate of four acres, situated majestically in the high Mountains of Westmoreland, Jamaica. Our retreat is off-the-beaten track, amid lush vegetation, with our Jamaican hills overlooking the island's South Coast. Our sunset from this vantage point, 700 meters (2100 feet) above sea level, is an exclusive nightly spectacle of beauty. Cool evenings and warm but moderate daytime temperatures, individuals with heightened appreciations of natural wonders and phenomenon will be inspired to no end by all that is to be found and re-discovered in the rural tradition of Good Hope Kentucky. Our Firefly cottage is one of three cottages here at the Bluefields mountain retreat. Build with real Jamaican hardwood lumber and varnished to give that warm welcoming feeling., Our cottage is furnished with the most comfort double pillow top Queen size bed so our guests can sleep in relaxation and comfort. Open up our bedroom doors to the ocean view balcony facing the Caribbean sea. Bay window seat for looking out in the natural garden. Enjoy bathing in our outside stone shower looking up at the stars. We got a pleasant surprise for our anniversary welcome that the entire family played a role in setting up. Sean and Geneva were quite hospitable and gave us everything we needed. If you want to live in the jamaican mountain-paradise, you’re more than right with Geneva’s and Sean’s „Good Hope Retreat“. After two weeks of holdidays we definitely knew we found a golden nugget up there and we actually didn’t want to leave. You live in a quiet cottage, so quiet that you can listen carefully to every sound of the jungle, at the same time you have a beautiful view at the ocean and are breathing the fresh mountain air. The hosts are very lovely and always help you out or give you some advice and knowledge about Jamaica. We somehow didnt meet as strangers, but as friends. And we laughed, played cards and even ate together. Btw I would definitely try Geneva’s dinner, she is an amazing cook and you always end up with something new and typical jamaican on your plate. We fell in love with the family of Geneva and specially with their retreat. What they give you isn’t a simple holiday, but a completely new experience of life. One of our favorite stays we’ve had in any country. Geneva and Sean are so welcoming and wonderful. Geneva is a wonderful cook!! The cottage is so peaceful there are not words to describe it. We enjoyed our quiet two days, reading and reconnecting with nature. The fireflies at night bring me back to when I was a child, running around trying to catch them in a glass jar. The air is so pure up on the mountain and everyone is so kind. If you want a break from the hustle and bustle of the beaches, please stay with Geneva!!! Tropical flowers perfume the mountain air. Great bird watching and snorkeling. Sean and Geneva are great hosts. We loved interacting with their boys and cooking meals in their traditional outdoor kitchen. Geneva is a great cook, we recommend trying it out. We are glad we rented a 4 wheel drive vehicle to get to the small community of Kentucky in the Jamaican Highlands. It is a 30 minute drive to the beach at Bluefields. We rented a double kayak from Luna Sea for $10 and did a 30 min paddle to the reef. The corals are beautiful and the tropical fish are numerous. Our best sighting was an Eagle Ray. If your not afraid of rough roads and mountain trails then you should check this place out. I didn’t want to do the typical hotel or resort. My first option wasn’t available but I’m happy it wasn’t. I wouldn’t have found this gem. The view is amazing. The cabin was cozy yet had all we needed. If you’re looking to unwind and disconnect from the huddle and bustle, this is the place. Geneva cooked for us for part of our stay and she did great. We’re vegans and she prepared tasty meals. I also cooked for a part of my stay and what I needed was provided. You may want to bring your own seasonings and the like. If you enjoy the outdoors and fresh air don’t let this gem pass you by. By the way, Geneva and Sean are amazing hosts. Geneva had amazing communication before arriving at Good Hope Retreat. The views from the mountain are truly breathtaking. Beautiful view of the ocean and you're surrounded by so many different trees and plants. You're able to enjoy a complete experience with Mother Nature. Eating fresh fruit from the trees, enjoying fresh fish, and other delicious meals prepared by Geneva. The cottage is very comfortable and spacious. It is a bit of a distance up the mountain, so you'll either have a long hike down the road or use the taxi services. The transportation was prompt and patient. Shawn and Geneva were very hospitable and welcoming. Such gracious hosts and amazing views. A truly unique experience. We had dinner and breakfast and it was amazing, home cooked Jamaican brought to our porch overlooking the ocean and jungle.
