There is free parking for your car on the Eastern Esplanade. This is only a couple of minutes' walk away from the cottage and close to the famous Bleak House where Charles Dickens wrote some of his novels.
If you prefer there is a car park again 1 minute from the cottage and a parking permit can be purchased for £40.00 for the week which allows you to park in other car parks around the Isle.

Just park your car and enjoy the history and beauty of this wonderful old town and its surrounding areas.

If you prefer to walk or cycle, there are some of the best cliff top walks you will see that should not be missed and is famous for its spectacular sunsets, 7 golden beaches and panoramic views you will find in Great Britain. These include Viking bay, Joss bay, Botany bay and there are smaller more secluded beaches if you prefer.

If you fancy a game of Golf on our famous golf courses, or a day out boat fishing, or even a trip to France for the day it is all here for you to discover.

Being right on the tip of the South East of England, we have our own little micro-climate here producing some of the best weather in the UK.

You will be guaranteed a warm and friendly welcome whenever you come to Broadstairs. With so much charm and history in this picturesque town, how could you resist?

Strugglers cottage is a beautiful, clean little cottage in the middle of Broadstairs but in a quiet courtyard. It had everything you could wish for and more. There is 3 flights of steep stairs between rooms but that is it’s charm.

If you’re looking for a quaint place to stay set in a Dickensian courtyard, you will not be disappointed. The property is well equipped and close to amenities and good walks. I recommend the cottage and advise you take notice of the advice about the steep stairs, not suitable for everyone but it definitely adds to the character. Thanks for the stay 🤣

Beverley and Phil are the most helpful host ever. Superb location and great stay. Though it was made clear about the winding staircase, it was still quite a surprise. Maybe a hand grip at top? Other than that, its a fab! Thanks Beverley and Phil :)

Cottage Feedback
The cottage was in an excellent location and very clean. That being said we felt the ropes substituting handrails on the stairs were very unhygienic particularly during Covid times. Unfortunately we arrived late and there was no key in the lockbox and it took me a little while to get through to the owner for her to send the cleaner with a key. I would recommend putting a fan in the top bedroom as it gets very hot.

Our Short Break in Broadstairs
We found the newly restored smugglers cottage really delightful, and very tastefully furnished. The property was challenging for the three of us aged between 75 and 82 with three sets of narrow stairs to negotiate!! A couple of grab rails in addition to the rope might have been helpful. However we managed it without mishap . The cottage was well appointed, catering for all our needs...except for a milk jug!! The weather was glorious and with seating outside we had a very enjoyable few days...not far from where we live in East Sussex.

Cosy little cottage
The property was cute, cosy and clean. We spent two nights here and had a lovely stay. The property description is very accurate and the owners were in touch to check all was well after we had settled in. Very clear and simple check in process. I would recommend the cottage to others..... (but not anyone elderly as they would struggle with the stairs, as stated in the listing!) Thank you for a great stay.

Historic charm and good value, but agility required
With its beamed ceilings and heritage touches, this property,--which is essentially four stacked rooms (modern kitchen added to the basement, small ground-floor sitting area, compact twin bedroom, more spacious master bedroom at the top--is quaint, charming, and well located near the Broadstairs seafront. It is just as pictured, and we found it to be very clean and tidy, with much thought given to guests' needs and information. We enjoyed it, and considered it good value, however, as other guests have observed, the winding staircases (3 sections) are exceptionally narrow and steep--(thank goodness for the hand ropes provided to navigate them) and (as duly noted in the description) would not be safe or comfortable for those with agility issues. We would also suggest that for stays of more than a couple of days (we stayed 6 nights), a second set of towels for each guest be provided, along with a few more "essential" bathroom supplies. This is a good choice for those who value charm and authenticity over luxury, although, as mentioned, it is very well maintained and well located.
