South Kona Paradise

Our family really enjoyed our stay at this fabulous home. Check in was easy. House was spotless. Kitchen was well stocked. Loved spending evenings on the lanai. We watched whales from the beach directly across from the house. Enjoyed the cool tropical breezes at night. We would gladly stay here again.

Beautiful home in Captain Cook

This home was so nice and very comfortable. It had so many extras like beach towels, snorkeling gear, spices, and so many comforts. It's such a beautiful home in a beautiful setting. Host made himself very accessible and provided great information in the area. We would love to come back again.

This is a beautiful house in a fantastic location with access to a beach just across the street. The views of the beach and ocean from the front and side decks are fantastic. We spent hours on the deck watching and listening to the waves on the beach below. There is also a good place to the right of the beach to snorkel. Just wished we could have extended our stay. The house is well stocked with linens, towels, dishes, beach gear, barbecue grill, etc. You name it, it was there. A couple of nearby grocery stores have evrrything you need. The listing is 100% accurate, but there is no way to describe the peacefulness of this location. And the owner was easy to contact and always helpful. This was the perfect VRBO experience. Mahalo to the owner/host for making this house available.

Great Stay

Very clean and great location for watching the sunset. The deck is lovely and outdoor shower was a nice choice to have. Main area can get a bit warm if you're unable to leave windows open while you're out as there is no a/c in this area. Bedrooms do have a/c. If we ever get back to Hawaii we would definitely stay here again!

This is a beautiful place to stay on the Big Island. The home is so comfortable and the view is stunning. Even though we had a list of places we wanted to visit on the Island, we found it difficult to leave the veranda. It was just a perfect place for the four of us.

Peaceful setting

Gregg’s house is truly lovely. If one is looking for quiet, peace and want to get away from it all, this is the place to be. We appreciated all the amenities we found there…paper products, soaps, an abundance of beach towels, beach chairs and so many other items too numerous to mention. Kitchen is great, everything so clean. And Gregg so quick to respond to any questions. Hope to be back.

Kona Paradise did feel like Paradise

From the first evening to the last morning, we enjoyed ourselves greatly in this gorgeous property created and managed by Gregg. The host checked on us on the night of arrival and made sure that we got there safely. Everyday was filled with great views, sunsets, and relaxation. Come to Kona and stay here!

Perfect Hawaiian Getaway in Paradise!

Tranquil, peaceful, beautiful, and comfy are the best words to describe this property. The elevated home/deck with breathtaking views of the ocean, the sound of the waves crashing against the rocks, birds chirping, the rustling of the palm leaves, and the cool ocean breeze was such a treat all week! And that bed on the porch was fabulous for lounging! Trails for hiking are within walking distance. And the decor inside was very well thought out and so tasteful…with plenty of Hawaiian books to browse through and games to play. I highly recommend this Vrbo!

Fantastic home!

We had a great stay here! Thanks again Gregg for making this available. The home is directly across from the beach with great views of the ocean. The house was every bit as great as the pictures! Very clean and well stocked. The host has thought of everything you might need or want while staying here. Plenty of room for our family of 4 to be very comfortable. The location is convenient to travel to many destinations on the island as well, or to just relax on the beautiful lanai and look out over the ocean. We look forward to staying here again in the future!

Quiet Nature Retreat

My husband and I absolutely love this house and surrounding area. There are very few lights here at night and the stars just pop out of the sky. The waves lulled us to sleep at night. There are hikes both up and down the coast- some days we saw no other hikers at all. The house is one of the most organized rentals we’ve ever had. Just the perfect vacation!

A wonderful experience

We loved our stay in this paradise. The host was great and provided great information at check in. The house was clean and everything as the pictures had shown. The view from the decks are incredible. It is a beautiful quiet neighborhood and all the people we spoke with were nice and very informative. The host provided chairs for the beach as well as snorkeling equipment, which I highly recommend to use at the beach across the street to see the beautiful reef about 20’ off shore. There are several hiking trails adjacent to the beach. I would highly recommend this house and the host. If I’m ever back on the big Island, this is the place I would feel at home at.

First trip to Hawaii, couldn’t have stayed in a better spot!

The pictures of those are awesome, but seeing it in person is waaaay better! The location is perfection for a non tourist vacation. Visiting the beach is awesome. We snorkeled almost everyday! Some days we went twice because it’s steps away from the house. The house was immaculate when we checked in. So clean, super appreciate that! Gregg is an awesome host, he’s responsive and gave us a tour of the home and suggested activities to do around the island. We should of stayed longer! 9days is not enough time.

Can't wait to go back!

We had a wonderful time staying here. The house was perfect for our group (two couples) - we were looking for something in a quieter part of the Kona coast, but still reasonably close to food, activities, trails, etc. We loved that we could hike, lounge on the beach, swim/snorkel, all from the front door. We even climbed the hill in the mornings to get a quick workout in! We really enjoyed the Captain Cook area and found most excursions that required driving never felt too far away. The house itself is beautiful. The location, layout, craftsmanship, furnishings, decor (and so on) were all clearly planned with a high attention to detail and appreciation for quality. Gregg was a thoughtful host who is kind enough to share such a special space with visitors like us. Honestly, we feel so fortunate to have stayed here and I can only hope that some day we are lucky enough to go back.

Absolutely stunning stay in an amazing house

I can't say enough about the location and amenities of this beautiful house. We watched the sky light up in the morning from the master bedroom and enjoyed the sunsets from the front deck. We took a walk along the black rock path in the evening and utilized the well appointed kitchen for preparing breakfast and a few meals. We appreciated the air conditioning, but really only had to use it one evening as the fans and the breeze kept everything cool. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the lovely outdoor shower which had lovely views while having a great shower. The drive up and down to the house is a bit harrowing as it is very steep, but the rewards were totally worth it. Gregg provided very detailed directions and guides which were appreciated. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and enjoy the beautiful views and accommodations.

Stunning, Peaceful Home for Perfect Getaway

Gorgeous ocean-view house with perfect layout for two couples or a family with kids. Even more stunning in person than in the photos. Located in a peaceful, out of the way neighborhood right across from the ocean. We loved sitting on the lanai every morning with a cup of coffee and watching the waves, listening to the birds, and spotting seals popping their heads out of the water. The waves crashing at night were the perfect white noise to fall asleep to. The house was spotless and stocked with everything you could possibly need - especially appreciated the travel cooler, kitchen tools and towels. Mini Split AC units in the bedrooms if you need them. Great communication from the host, Gregg. The house is located at the bottom of a steep, winding road. We had no trouble navigating it in our rented SUV, but you'll want to consolidate sightseeing and shopping trips to avoid driving up and down multiple times per day. Once you get to the house, you won't want to leave anyway. Located about 45 min south of Kailua-Kona and 25 min south of Captain Cook (nearest neighborhood with grocery and restaurants). Do stock up on groceries on your way to the house. The Choice Mart in Captain Cook was well-stocked, but plenty of options in Kona too. Stop at the South Kona Fruit stand for fresh fruit and baked goods. Nearby restaurants close early, so plan ahead. Recommended activities: Volcano Nat'l Park, Mauna Kea summit & star tour, sea turtles at Punaluʻu Beach, and coffee tours.

A hidden gem in Kona Paradise

We just enjoyed a long weekend at Gregg's beach house in Kona Paradise, and it was everything I hoped for and more. This is hands down the nicest vacation rental I've ever had in all of Hawaii, and certainly at this price point. If you are looking for a nice vacation in a highly amenitized house that is off the beaten path, adjacent to the beach, but still convenient to the key tourist attractions, this is the place for you! Gregg has thought of everything in this house. The kitchen is well-stocked and has everything needed for your stay, including just about every condiment and spice imaginable. The bedrooms are nice and have A/C, and the outdoor shower in the master is fantastic. The house is simply stunning inside and out, and it sits on the second row with nothing in front of it except a parking lot for the beach. We spent countless hours on the covered patio enjoying the near-unrestricted views, listening to the birds, and watching the surf. We had a great time at the pebble beach out front, and we also really enjoyed the black sand beach which was only a short hike away. Gregg supplies everything you need, including snorkel gear, an umbrella, a cooler, and nice Tommy Bahama beach chairs. And for those wondering, the internet is very good. We didn't use it much, but we had no issues doing basic work and making some FaceTime calls from anywhere in the house or on the patio. I have never been back to any vacation rental in the past simply because I like to see different things, but I will be back to this one. It's a slice of paradise in Hawaii, and you won't be disappointed.

This house was perfect in every way!
