Once you've been to all of the well-known places in Madero, there's more to explore in the surrounding region. Grab the keys to a rental car, toss your bags in the trunk and get on the road. We've pulled together some drives we think you'll enjoy:

• You'll find First Street and many other intriguing attractions in Ensenada. From Madero, it's roughly 50 miles away.
• Why not see all that's on offer in Mexicali too? Notable sights in this colorful city include Plaza La Gran Via. Mexicali is 90 miles from Madero.
• Visit Malecón San Felipe to feel grounded in nature. Take a picnic to enjoy or just sit and unwind. From Madero, it's about 170 miles away.

If you don't possess a driver's license issued in Mexico, then you'll likely need to acquire an International Driving Permit (IDP) in your place of residence to be allowed to rent a car. Also consider that if you do need an IDP, it won't be valid on its own. You'll have to show your current license your passport and other forms of documentation as well. Lastly, make sure the credit card used to book the rental vehicle matches the name on your driver's license and passport. Some other requirements to rent a car internationally are:
