It's not what you think.

The Knights Inn, was false advertising, as the hotel had a sign in the Lobby that it was under the Motel 8 brand. It was run like one. Cheap cheap cheap. The minimal service was adequate at best, but the exterior facade was dirty and dated looking, the interior finishes were at least 10 years old and dirty, scratched, stained, etc. Not terrible but not good. The bathroom had the shower curtain and rod sagging as it was pulling out of both walls and was not safe. The toilet paper holder was coming out of the wall. There were other signs of deferred or poor maintenance, including an Out-of-service elevator and mold in the ice machine. For the money paid on a UofI Dad's day weekend the deal was only okay because no bugs were fond in the room. Had no confidence on this but it worked out okay. As a last chance hotel it could be worse, but this is not a "nice" hotel even for basic most needs. It's value to me would be around $40-50/night.

Affordable

Hotel close to major highway but road to front parking lot pitching dark at night so is hard to keep in the line and drive safe. Rooms are clean, beds are comfortable no sink in the bathroom, TV very old style with a few channel choices to watch. This hotel needs some update to attract futures visitors

Desk staff was outstanding. Had 2 rooms reserved w/several arrival & billing adjustments. Don't know her name but she handled everything with no effort or complaint!

The first room they gave us he smoke detector kept going off and they gave us a new room very fast. It's definitely worth it for the money you pay if you're just looking for something cheap and quick!

I normally don't like to chirp a complaint but....

Only issue I had was the smoke detector in my room starting chirping at 4am and they could not stop it so I had to change rooms. Could not fall back asleep so my night did not go well.
