"This was our first time staying here and it certainly won't be our last. The shepherd's hut is beautifully decorated and has such a cosy and comfortable feel to it. The under floor heating kept it lovely and warm too despite the snow outside (which also made it super pretty). "Really enjoyed our time at the Little Cow House. Starting with the very warm welcome from our lovely hosts and delicious welcoming homemade cake. The house is very nicely furnished, immaculately clean and very well equipped, and is warm and cosy; you can hear the river rushing in the valley below and the rooms have lovely views of trees and fields. Would like to come back and visit again in the summer to really make the mot of the great walks and sights in the area."

"I really wanted to like this place because it’s a nice setting, but unfortunately, the experience was marred by a very tired room that clearly hasn't seen a deep clean or maintenance in a long time. The Room Condition The level of neglect was honestly shocking. • Walls & Carpets: The room is full of scuffs and what looks like possible blood splatter on the walls (see photos). • Maintenance: Cracks in the plaster and chipped paint throughout made the space feel grimy rather than cozy. Sleep Quality If you’re looking for a restful night, look elsewhere. • The Bed: I dealt with a lumpy, uncomfortable bed paired with thin, uncomfortable pillows that offered zero support. • Noise: To make matters worse, my room backed onto the yard. There is a loud generator noise throughout the night that made it nearly impossible to sleep. Bottom line: It's a shame because the exterior and grounds are lovely, but the interiors are in desperate need of an overhaul. I wouldn't recommend staying here until they address the hygiene and noise issues."

"Review for The Wild Pheasant Hotel & Spa – Saturday 6th May 2026 We had a wonderful stay at the Wild Pheasant Hotel & Spa on Saturday 6th May and I can’t recommend it highly enough. From the moment we arrived, the standard of cleanliness really stood out. Our room was spotless, and the same high standard continued throughout the entire hotel – everything felt fresh, well-maintained, and beautifully presented. The breakfast was absolutely AMAZING! The selection was excellent, everything was cooked to perfection, and the quality of the ingredients really shone through. It was one of the best hotel breakfasts we’ve had in a long time. However, what really made our stay special was Mel on reception. She went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and looked after. Mel is the friendliest, most helpful person you could hope to meet – she was genuinely lovely to chat with and gave us brilliant recommendations of places to visit in the area. Her warmth and professionalism made a big difference to our experience. She is a real credit to the hotel and the whole team. We left feeling relaxed, well-rested, and very well looked after. Thank you Wild Pheasant – we’ll definitely be back! Highly recommended. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐"

"Staff and the quality of the food were the only positives. General maintenance and cleanliness were extremely low with our room having a broken window hinge, the bin lid broken off, spit covering the bedroom mirror, the bath taps being brown around the outside, the toilet seat being the incorrect size for the toilet and the bath clearly had had a water leak that had damaged the side and not been replaced/covered. The spa was equally as bad with scum marks around the hot tubs and general lack of repair and maintenance in all areas... A toilet door lock came completely off in my hand!"

"What an absolutely wonderful find. We usually travel Glasgow to Pembrokeshire in a oner, 8.5+ hrs but getting too old now so the lions quay was a fantastic find. Lovely, tranquil canal walks, fab spa facilities and a comfortable pub and restaurant with exceptionally patient and polite staff. Certainly stay again."

"Staff are ok, hotel needs updating. Rooms are dated, bathroom needs a good clean, didn’t like the hair in the plug in the bath. Beds and pillows are comfortable. Bar area not clean, lack of staff willing to service. Food ok, definitely reheated. Breakfast was ok, but they need to tell you it’s not just full English for £9.95 and provide the menu on check-in. Young lady on breakfast provided an excellent service, although tables not cleaned, no cutlery, napkins, cups or glasses. Had to ask for everything. Really understand why the Premier Inn and Ramada was full, definitely better planning next time and look at reviews. "
