"Great hotel full of character. Next to the river and a short walk into the main town. Parking available at the back of the hotel. Staff were great, always friendly. Rooms differ from modern to very old. Rates are reasonable and the breakfast delightful. Have stayed here many times always good."

"I thought it was such an interesting hotel, obviously steeped in history, which is captured well in its decor and design. The look and feel of it is warm and inviting. The flooring on the second floor seems a bit weak, but other than that, everything was fine. The bed was smaller than what we're used to, but comfortable, the bathroom clean and the temperature pleasant with the window cracked. The front desk staff were very helpful when we needed something or had questions about getting around the city and sight-seeing. We only wished we'd been able to grab a fast, affordable continental breakfast - even just a pastry - before we headed out the door. Would like to stay there again someday!"

"I booked two rooms, one for myself the other for my son. When we arrived we were given keys to our respective rooms and another for external door entry outside of opening hours. My key was just loose with no number. We were told that we could have a drink at the bar but needed to go immediately as it was about to close. The nice young lady who booked us in appeared to serve drinks. We sat down to have our beers on stained and tacky looking chairs and a large dog appeared and came and joined us.. We are both dog lovers and the dog was friendly, however, if you were afraid of dogs this would not have been a good experience. Both our rooms were shocking, unclean and in a state of what I can only describe as disrepair. When I got up and went to get something from my care at 7.30 and shut the front door as I went out I assumed that the key I had been given to let myself in would do just that, it didn't! We left without having breakfast!"

"Unacceptable hygiene – mold, dirt, and poor maintenance We stayed here for a weekend with our children and were very disappointed with the cleanliness and condition of the room. The bathroom had a strong moldy smell, and there was visible mold on the ceiling, which is completely unacceptable—especially with kids. The overall hygiene was poor. The carpet was very dirty with visible debris along the edges, and the bathroom areas showed clear signs of neglect and buildup. It did not feel clean or properly maintained. This is not just about appearance—mold and poor sanitation raise real health concerns. We expected a basic standard of cleanliness from a hotel, and this fell far below that. I would not recommend staying here unless significant improvements are made."

"Staff very helpful and polite. Breakfast and lunch snacks reasonable, tasty and plentiful. Was disappointed to have a small double sized bed and nothing bigger available. Given the room size I’m sure the beds could be larger. My husband suffers a bad back and I have recently had a stroke. In my opinion an executive room would at a minimum have a king size bed."
