Apr 19, 2024 #### Great time but house pretty disappointing This was our first visit to the OBX and we love Corolla! It's a beautiful area. We enjoyed the house but there were too many things we had issue with to rent again. In fairness we never called management because we were able to accommodate. We didn't want to deal with coordinating repairs with anyone, just didn't want the hassle on our time. However if there were more than 5 of us staying we wouldn't have had a choice. The nice things were the house was clean and had a spacious living area, beautiful view with all the windows. The deck is new and really nice. The kitchen layout was great as well. The house is a bit dated but honestly that wasn't a big deal to us as long as everything was functional and clean. Below were our biggest issues. -We didn't let our kids sleep on the top bunkbeds. The entire loft shook back and forth, it was missing huge bolts at the top which obviously is a huge safety issue. The bed was extremely squeaky too. -The second master bedroom's bed squeaked so bad that no one slept in there most of the time. We tried fixing it with pillows and padding but it didn't work. The bathroom was nice though. -The Masterbath had more aesthetic issues; the towel bar was drooping and barely hanging on when they could simply be tightened with a screw, the paint was pretty sloppy but again, it was clean which is what was the most important. -There were lightbulbs either missing or not working through the house. The light under the house wasn't working and the lights at the end of the driveway weren't working either. It was really dark so the kids didn't play outside as it was getting dark. -The outside had tree branch clippings all over the ground. Not as much as a bother just not great looking. There was junk/old furniture thrown behind the fence around the pool. We didn't go in the area because the pool was closed, but we didn't use the hot tub because the whole pool area was pretty messy/dirty. We didn't spend much time in the house besides sleeping. So the kids not being able to sleep in the bunk beds (which they look forward to) and the squeaky beds was frustrating. We absolutely loved our stay. The house was in a great, convenient location — super quiet and peaceful, but still close to everything we needed. It was spotless when we arrived, which instantly made it feel comfortable and welcoming. The pool was big and well-maintained, and the furniture throughout the house was modern and really nice — gave the place a fresh, upscale feel. Only downside: the beds could definitely be more comfortable, and the bunk bed squeaks a lot (just something to keep in mind if you've got light sleepers). But honestly? I would suggest the owners provide sharper knives for food prep. The only real disadvantage we thought was the fact that there is no way to acess the home from the pool area. You have to walk around to the front of the house to the front stairs. That might be a bit inconvenient for families with small children,especially to acess a bathroom. The kitchen as multiple drawers that are broken, and the back is busted off one of the ground level cabinets. There is not a full set of pots & pans and only one cookie sheet. The owner charges a pet deposit, he needs to use it to clean the carpets to clean up after renters who had their dogs wet on the carpets. The upper bunk bed railings bolts are stripped out and falling out of the bed. The pool area and hot tub were very nice. We appreciated how helpful Shoreline OBX was in addressing our concerns, but this review is specifically about the house itself. Pros: • Great location • Close walk to the beach • Nice pool area Cons: • The odor is unbearable and overwhelming from the moment you walk in. It never goes away and makes the entire stay uncomfortable. • The house was dirty on arrival — I had to purchase cleaning supplies and clean it myself. • Old, outdated home with no care or comfort. • Furniture is stained, worn, and carries such a strong odor that sitting or sleeping on it is nearly impossible. • The mattresses are old, sagging, and musty — the smell and condition made them very uncomfortable to sleep on. • Bathrooms are outdated, dingy, and in need of renovation. Overall: While the area and pool were enjoyable, the house itself was distasteful — old, smelly, and uncomfortable. The odor alone makes the property unlivable, and it is clear the ownership does not care about the condition of this home.
