“In all caps? DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE. You cannot contact the host and, at least for us, they never provided an access code. We ended up on the street with our luggage for hours while the excellent support staff at Expedia helped us sort it out and booked us another place to stay. The people who lived locally said this was not the first time it had happened either and other families had gone through the same thing. (One very nice local family invited us into their home to get us off the street;……

“Our recent stay at NIPPONIA Miyama was unforgettable — not just because of the beautifully restored houses, but because every detail showed how thoughtful and considerate the team is. The atmosphere is calm, zen, and deeply connected to the surrounding nature. What truly stood out was the hospitality. The staff went above and beyond to tailor activities just for us. They arranged a private hike to a nearby waterfall, followed by a farm‑to‑table experience where we learned to identify local……

“A unique and beautiful accommodation. Lovely chambers, bathroom…, and the weaving mill also further adds to the authentic feel, Located in a quiet residential area.”

“Nice home ”

“Worse hostel I have ever lived in !!!! The garage was filled with clutter and very dark, even with lights on, like an old warehouse. There are many things inside the garage, such as multiple refrigerators and washing machines. Moreover, my car can no longer move in reverse, and the garage door cannot be closed, raising security concerns. The washing machine was located in the garage, which resembled a chaotic storage area with no lighting, making it unwelcoming and inconvenient to use. As……

“An amazing place if you want to experience a more traditional house in Kyoto, instead of sleeping at an hotel. Has everything you need from kitchen to a traditional futon. Would love to come back again. The bus is really close and the subway is not far from the house either. So easy to get around town.”
