San Marino Hotel & Resort Travel Guide

Combine the autonomous charm of Monaco, the historical sights of Rome, and the unfettered relaxation of Capri, and you’ve captured the essence of San Marino. Located to the southwest of Rimini, Italy, this country is Europe’s third-smallest independent state. What it lacks in size, however, it more than makes up for in character; picturesque villages nestle between the hills, olive groves and pine trees dot the landscape, and ramparts tower over medieval squares. Though most globe-trotters visit the area on a day trip from Italy, the cheap hotel deals in San Marino make it worth an overnight adventure.

San Marino is divided into nine districts, known as castelli, and each offers a unique atmosphere. The City of San Marino is the island’s tourist mecca, and it’s in this medieval area that you’ll find the most popular San Marino hotel packages. Book one of these rooms to stroll the city’s cobblestone streets, unwind in a local cafe, and visit must-see locations like the Three Towers of San Marino and Piazza del Titano. If you visit during the low season, you might even be able to track down a special discount. Just make sure to bring your best walking shoes; many hotels in San Marino are perched on the slopes of Monte Titano, and seeing the top sights requires a fair amount of climbing.

Situated at the bottom of Monte Titano is the castelli of Borgo Maggiore. Most notable for being the home of Our Lady of Consolation, Giovanni Michelucci’s modernist-era church, this district is a fantastic place to browse local wares at the bustling market. What’s more, it’s connected to the eponymous city by cable car, so you can book San Marino hotel deals in either place.

While both of these spots are filled with unbeatable sights, Dogana is the best place to immerse yourself in the local lifestyle. This castelli is the country’s largest, and the San Marino hotels here give you access to tree-lined streets, hushed neighborhoods, and laid-back cafes serving local wines and limoncello. Plus, you can track down great rates during the quieter winter months.

No matter where you choose to hang your hat, a cheap San Marino hotel deal lets you uncover the unique personality and low prices of this European destination. Make your reservations, and you’ll be one step closer to the getaway of your dreams.

"Very well appointed. Close to Rimini."
Excellent standard. Piano in foyer, so I played a couple of tunes. One of the staff asked me to keep on playing, but I hadn't played in a while and my fingers were a bit 'rusty'. Good room and WiFi. Didn't like the demand to wear a hair cap to use the pool. I'm bald......dumb rule. Good food in bar.

    "Comfortable little find, nightmare arrival."
The hotel in itself is great, for the price, really friendly staff, nice room, not expensive, everything. The problem lies in the fact that it is right on a highway. The website may say that it is a few hundred metres from the stop for buses to/from Rimini - what it does not say is that you are practically taking your life in your hands to walk alongside a highway to get to it, especially in the dark. My only way to reach it was by taxi, for the sake of 300 dangerous metres - and the minimum call-out charge is 15 euros. Otherwise, the hotel is perfectly acceptable and a pleasure to stay in. Nice little restaurant alongside too.

"Perfect position in historic centre of town."
The hotel was easily accessible from car parks 5, 6, or 7. Check-in was simple and efficient and friendly. Room was large enough and bathroom, whilst not spacious, was perfectly adequate. Good view over square and distant countryside. Dodgy connection on fridge! Breakfast ample, toast, croissant, ham, cheese, cereals, cakes, juices, etc. Staff helpful and friendly 99% of time (one substitute server didn't understand that water for tea needs to be BOILING). Terrace restaurant was superb. Excellent quality of food, beautifully presented and friendly efficient waiters. But best of all was view from restaurant window, over the Palazzo, the town and the surrounding hills - absolutely stunning! Hotel on edge of historic area, short walk to all places of interest. Perfect place to stay when visiting a delightful town. We loved it here. We stayed in April, outside busy period, never wore our anoraks, most of day in shorts and sandals (Italians thought it cold but 22 degrees is fine for us!

"Excellent location for visiting San Marino"
I couldn't believe the location....right on the main tourist street with easy walking to all the major San Marino sights. The hotel is very clean and well equipped. Breakfast is excellent. The view from our room was....incredible! Top floor in the corner gave a 180 degree view looking out over the valley far below. WiFi is available but I found it extremely slow. Although the hotel is nice, it is sort of rustic (wood decor feels like a chalet) so be prepared for this sort of feel. The bed was OK but not particularly comfortable. Shower was typical european (too small to raise your arms fully without hitting elbows on the walls), but fine nevertheless
