Charming Log Cabin Near Florida River - 20 Min to Downtown Durango - Dogs OK

NOTE: 4WD/AWD required in winter (Thanksgiving through late March).

Enjoy nature at this idyllic Colorado cabin located within a 20 minute drive from Durango. In the mountains across from the Florida river, this is a great location as "base camp" while enjoying all that the Durango area has to offer.

Outside, the deck is a great place to enjoy morning coffee or view the starry night skies from the porch swing.  Fall foliage is spectacular with aspen and other seasonal trees surrounding the home, and winter snow creates a unique mountain getaway at this home. Fishing is a hop, skip and jump away across the road. There are many hiking trails in this area, as well.

Inside, the cabin layout includes a full kitchen, living room with fireplace and streaming TV, dining area.  Both bedrooms and bathroom with walk-in shower are also on the main level. We have plenty of family board games for you to enjoy. The cabin also has a washer/dryer.

Our home has shared private Florida river access and access to Treasure Island - a shared community recreation area that's perfect for family fishing outings, picnics, and nature adventures. With Vallecito Lake a 15 minute drive, and Lemon Lake 8 minute drive from our home guests have easy access to robust fishing, boating, and paddle boarding opportunities. This home has very limited cell service.

Consistent with most Colorado mountain resorts, the home does not offer air-conditioning.

Stay with us and we offer DISCOUNTS on both summer (white water rafting, horseback riding etc.) and winter (ski/snowboard rentals, sleigh rides, snowmobile tours etc.) activities.

Great Fall Get Away
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely property. It was immaculately clean and well appointed. It is convenient to town and the drive is beautiful. My husband and I have had an exhausting year and this home provided us with the respite that we needed away from the hustle and bustle of our lives back in Dallas TX. I would highly recommend this property as great vacation get away.

Charming cabin-needed a few repairs( note was left). VRBO listing stated we would have a sample of local coffee ( no coffee found). VRBO listing stated cabin would have Kleenex. I have allergies and had to drive 20 minutes on mountain roads to purchase Kleenex. We cleaned up after ourselves daily- all towels were laundered before we left. Only sheets had to be washed. We washed and put away all kitchen items. We followed all discharge instructions. We picked up after OUR pet but watched the NEIGHBORS black lab come onto the rental property to do his business with NO neighbor supervision! I don't go on vacation to pick up after someone else's pet!

Amazing cabin!
This charming log cabin exceeded our expectations! Our stay in August 2023 was amazing! Authentic and beautifully clean log cabin, within 20 minutes from Durango, easy 5 minute walk to the beautiful Florida creek in the neighborhood, FULLY equipped kitchen which was stocked with many extras, COMFORTBLE king sized and queen sized beds, nice amenities in the bathroom with a full-sized shower, wonderful open front porch, tasteful cabin decorations throughout, full fireplace inside plus a Weber grill area outside with a fully stocked wood pile (which we did not use - due to the current burn ban 8/2023), full sized fridge, full sized range/oven, full sized washer and dryer units, lovely dining area with a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains, large living area with tons of games for the family, quiet and respectful neighbors on the private road leading up to the cabin. This cabin and the area were perfect for our stay. Highly recommend!

Beautiful cabin and very comfortable beds.
The cabin was very clean and fully stocked in the kitchen with what ever you may need. The beds were exceptionally comfortable, especially the king bed in the master bedroom. Although the property is a good size and close to a river, there is no access to the river. There is no fishing on the river anywhere close the cabin. It is also next to the main road which was noisey at times. Overall, it was a lovely home.

Best of cabin experiences!
From our pre-trip communications with the property management team, to our check-out and final day at the cabin, we were tremendously impressed with our stay in full. The cabin itself was easily accessible, about 15 minutes from downtown Durango, yet it was just remote enough to feel secluded. The property is absolutely lovely, and with the recent snowfall, it was fun to explore trails around the estate's private Treasure Island, streams, and neighboring mountainside. Upon arrival, the interior spaces were impeccably clean and organized. As a designer, I am always appreciative of both a functional and aesthetically pleasing layout as well, and this home did not disappoint! Each room was well-furnished for its particular use (books, games, and tv access in living area; fully stocked utensils and cookware in kitchen; ample toiletries in the bathroom; beautiful and comfortable linens in each bedroom). My husband and five-year-old loved collecting logs outside to make a fire each morning, and we made it a habit to sip hot cocoa and eat popcorn every evening while snuggling up to enjoy a Christmas movie, fire still ablaze. Throughout our stay, we even surprised our daughter with an experience on the Polar Express train to Silverton! The best of memories made at an incredible VRBO, and we have already decided to add it to our list of return destinations. Thank you for helping make this an incredible Thanksgiving trip for our little family.

This cabin had everything we needed. The bathroom was well stocked with shampoo, etc. and the kitchen had lots of items as well. Beds were comfortable and the heat worked great. Would stay again!
