Forcalquier, an authentic getaway in Haute-Provence

Nestled between the Luberon and the Lure mountain, Forcalquier charms visitors with its Provençal charm and art de vivre. Former capital of an independent county, the town retains a rich medieval heritage: cobbled streets, lively squares, ancient fountains... From the Citadel, the panoramic view over the Durance valley is spectacular.

Located in the heart of Haute-Provence, Forcalquier is a lively cultural destination from spring to late summer.

From April onwards, the town comes alive around its famous Provençal market on Mondays, one of the most renowned in the region, offering a true immersion in local flavours and lifestyle. Spring is also punctuated by concerts, shows and cultural events, as well as sporting events such as the Haute-Provence trail run, which attracts many visitors.

In June, it's time for family entertainment, open gardens and the first festivals, in a friendly and sunny atmosphere.

Summer (July and August) marks the high point of the tourist season. Forcalquier hosts several music and entertainment festivals, including classical music concerts and eclectic programmes in heritage venues. Visitors can also enjoy open-air cinemas, exhibitions, theatre, craft markets and food festivals showcasing the produce of Haute-Provence.

This period offers an ideal balance between cultural entertainment, Provençal authenticity and a relaxed lifestyle, making Forcalquier a particularly popular destination between April and August.

The property is located in the heart of a small hamlet of just three houses, nestled at the end of a quiet lane, surrounded by nature and absolute tranquility.

## Transit
By train:
Forcalquier does not have a direct train station. The nearest TER station is La Brillanne-Oraison, about 12 km away, with regional train services from Marseille, Aix-en-Provence, or Briançon. For longer journeys, the Aix-en-Provence TGV station provides connections to Paris, Lyon, and Avignon. From there, you can reach Forcalquier by bus or taxi.

By bus:
The regional network ZOU! serves Forcalquier with several bus lines from nearby towns such as Manosque, La Brillanne, or Sisteron. These connections make it easy to link up with train stations and major routes. Visit the official ZOU! website or contact their information service to plan your trip.

By plane:
The closest airport to Forcalquier is Marseille-Provence Airport, located about 1h30 away by car. It offers numerous domestic and international flights. You can reach Forcalquier from the airport by combining train and bus, with a connection via Aix-en-Provence TGV station or Manosque using the regional ZOU! lines.
