I would have given this hotel a solid 4 or 5 starts, if my check-in experience hasn't been so terrible.
But positives first:
- Great central location
- Nice spa;
- Good breakfast
- Friendly staff
- Modern clean rooms (single room is on a smaller side)
Now here is one big fat negative:
When I arrived at the hotel, the reception staff refused to check me in. The reason for that was that the corporate group has instructed them to only check-in vaccinated travellers. Now, I am not vaccinated and also cannot be for medical reasons. When I entered Switzerland, I followed Swiss government regulation, i.e. took PCR test. Swiss government then introduced measures which required all restaurants, spas, bars etc to only admit vaccinated people. That regulation DID NOT apply to lodging. The hotel group has chosen to introduce the 2G (aka vaccinated only) not only to restaurants and spas which are situated in their hotels but also to lodging facilities; which is fine, however they failed to inform clients who had advance bookings, like me. So, there I was travelling from UK completely uninformed of such measure. And when I have arrived at the hotel, they wanted to terminate my booking and they were happy to send me to sleep on the street. Of course, to rebook an alternative hotel last minute would have costed about £1000 more. In the end I obtained a local doctor's note to show that I cannot be vaccinated at 50CHF, expense I could have avoided if I had received prompt info.
