“Wonderful hotel in one of the castle wings. Room was large, but the bathroom was small and has a bathtub with shower, it’s OK, but not more. In the castle cellar is the Czech National Wine Centre, where they have over 160 wines from the Czech Republic, and you can buy s ticket for 2 hours and taste as many as you want, each wine has a large fold-up with data and a QR code so you can read in other languages. Valtice is a very nice little town, there are many wine-bars and restaurants, well worth……

“Have stayed at this hotel several times - and it have always been a good experience. This time, I stayed at the large room - very comfortable, quit (despite the heavy traffic from the road). The original Holíč Castle was constructed in the 11th century, although has been rebuilt and reconstructed several times. It occupied a strategic location between the Moravian and Hungarian empires, and after conversion into a fortress, was important in defending against the Ottoman Empire. It later became a summer residence for the Habsburg family. It's undergoing a slow process of restoration, and was opened to the public in 2007. There are several rooms belonging to the municipal museum. The fortress site, which is surrounded by water, is quite large and makes for a pleasant walk.
