Jackson’s compact historic downtown features many attractions within walking distance of the Amtrak station. The museum, open Monday through Saturday, is just a short walk from the historic State Capitol Building.

Downtown Jackson offers cultural attractions, such as the Arts Center of Mississippi, a cultural complex which also houses the Russell C. Davis Planetarium. Kids will be captivated by the wonders of the earth at the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science. Immerse yourself in informative and interactive displays, both indoor and outdoor. Walk one of six nature trails surrounding the museum and explore Mississippi’s natural environment.

Reach Jackson via Jackson-Evers International Airport, or take an Amtrak train or interstate highways 20 or 55. Jackson typically has warm, humid summers and wet winters and springs. Winters are quite mild, but be prepared for frequent thunderstorms in the cooler months.
